Cheating supported by AA.com?

Why would AA.com host files that the community considers a cheat. Transparent weapons so theres no blocked portions of the screen. Nades that take no effort to spot. Frankly i dont think these should be up, they just add to the problem. What do you guys think? Im sure theres more but i didnt really start hunting for these i was looking for some good skins and bumped into these. |
i dont really have a problem with transparent weapons since you can just turn weapon views off, but the nades are kind of lame.
|
I 100% agree
ive been thinking about this myself latley the community shouldnt host skin cheats |
I prefer the axis grenade mod that looks like a budwieser and sounds like your popping the cap when you pull the pin.
|
I agree. They should keep it as real as possible. With that being said, the Thompson is not as powerful in the game as it should be. that SOB put out at least 600 rounds-per-minute, and spit out a 230 grain .45 ACP round with enough foot pounds to knock a fully grown man on his ass. It's effective range was 55 yards, but when I come around a corner in a map and unload on someone and they don't drop immediately, well I'm just not happy about it. Everything else about the game I enjoy, but I feel that this needs to be resolved. I'll get off my soapbox now.

you can play CKR or another realism mod if you want a better thompson
|
same with some person skins, like theres ones that are all red (addidas suit) and like the gay hitler one.

Skins - cheat?
The weapons / nade skins are no advantage at all
The player skins... thats a major problem that will BE CURED within the next 1-2 weeks (if not sooner) DogMeat has written a new server sided mod that has the ability (admin option) to Automatically change anyone who selects a "non-standard" skin (like the bright colored skins) back to a stock skin - this is awesome ! We can finally get rid of those who cheat by using bright colored and neon skins Players wont get booted, the server will just change the skins for them automatically evil: =[DOA]=BallBuster |

Will Auto-Boot those who select "Force Models" When this happens - you will see players scores go down and the really skilled players will be evident as nobody will be able to force the other side to have the silly brightly colored skins - they are CHEATS =[DOA]=BallBuster[/quote:edb81] Oh man that will be great. Looking forward to it. |
[quote:04661]Will Auto-Boot those who select "Force Models" [/quote:04661]
That SUCKS! I hope aa.com NEVER uses this mod. I use force models for the exact purpose it was intentioned...to improve my FPS. To lump me into the category of cheaters and lameoids is totally irresponsible. I'd expect more from DogMeat since I believe his other mods and map fixes are brilliant. Rudedog, PLEASE, never put that Force Model boot mod on your server. I'm BEGGING you. mad: Zone |
I think they are going to call it the "camper's special mod". I hate having to decide "friend of foe" in a heartbeat with force models off. I like the idea of being able to tell the teams apart by the color of the uniform. Yeah, I know the avatars help, but that takes half a second longer, and that is too much time, especially in realism. This is a team sport (TDM) and teams should be dressed the same.
Whatever, they are your servers. Thankfully, I have a dedicated server to call home that will NOT be running this sillyness. Just one more way for a small group to tell others how to play the game. I think the only thing keeping this game from being completely bastardized is that EA hasnt released the SDK. |
Well I'll agree that I use force models and don't see a problem with that. But it would be nice to know that I'm not playing against someone that is painting me and my team with a neon skin.

Will Auto-Boot those who select "Force Models" =[DOA]=BallBuster[/quote:742a4] no way, thats retarted, i get like 10 fps when i dont use force models. |
it's comforting to know i will soon get banned for having 101st airborne vs japanese infantry fights
|
I'm glad to see that some people are on my side here.
I use the Canadian D-Day skin for the Allies and the black SS skin for the Axis (Don't recall the name, but it's one of the stock ones). That cheating? Of course not. As for someone else seeing me as a neon green dude or Ronald McDonald, I really don't care. All I know, is that I see Canadians vs. Germans. When you're as bad at this game as I am, being easier to see is of no consequence...heh heh. Zone |
FORCE MODELS IS NOT A CHEAT
Sure auto kick those that use non-stock skins to ensure that cheating is not going on, but kicking those who choose to play the game as it should be (i.e. in team uniforms and not a mismatch of colours, designs and ensignia) is a crime in itself. I know that those determined to exploit "force models" can simply edit the skin in the pak file to make it whatever colour they want to avoid this problem, but realistically, how many of the people that play on your server are actually going to do that? Some people will cheat, no matter what - but you should eductate them that cheating is like masturbation - not in public. Rather than auto-kicking those who are trying to play the game as it should be. |
i never used a weap skin in my life. can u see it in mp when other people don't have it?
|
when you have a weapon skin everybodys weapon will look like it
|
ohhh

I guess i will have to figure out the hard way, and I am highly anticapating that Mod, good job Dogmeat. |
No more realistic skins for me then. Force models is the only way I can see them. Oh well, back to the craptacular stock skins eek:
|
Sorry Guys !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I missed the point in my original post !!!!!!!!!!!
We can finally get rid of those who cheat by using bright colored and neon skins Players wont get booted, the server will just change the skins for them automatically "Force Models" will be an option also, I use force models and will just be using this to get rid of the bright colored skins so "force models" will be allowed on our server Sorry for the confusion... my bad =[DOA]=BallBuster |
So only skins that are all bright colors? Oh ok biggrin:
|
i hope that the mod will be customizable in that you can have it accept some skins and not others. for example, if strik0r wanted to use his japanses infantry skin, then as long as its on the host server as well, then the mod shouldnt kick him and he can use the skin. so maybe if you wanted to use a custom, akin and it is acceptable, then it can be uploaded to the server, like its been happening already.
|
I agree with you too. That force model and custom skin thing is BS. A good idea biut not thought all the way through.
|
oh yey no force models that will suck

Think up something else, most players I know use Force Models so they feel they are in a battle against a specific unit, not a mis-matched pile bollocks. |

Read the post above after I had replied. Seems a bit fairer then before biggrin: Good luck with it, hope it works out the way it's meant too.

From what i can tell after going through this post is a general agreement that AA.com shouldnt host the brightly colored skins, be it for a weapon or a player. Good to hear. Glad im not the only one who thinks that.
As for DogMeats "force model fix" i think its not a bad idea though it sounds like its got some people confused. What it sound like to me is that if i were to join a server with Ronald MCdonald forced onto the allies. Then I go and join the axis, that i will see something like the Allied ranger skin forced on all the allied models. It does defeat the purpose of having cutom skins on your computer to be forced. I for one use Black Hawk Down Ranger skins forced onto the allies, and the standard Wermacht soldier to the axis. Whats the point of me having special skins if i join a server and only see stock? I really hope this mod dosnt become popular on the main servers. Yes there are lamers out there who will use the cheat, but i dont think its so wide spread that we need to exterminate any forced model. If AA.com, TMT, PMOH, and all other major MOHAA sites all took down skins the community considers cheating tools then it would be a great deal harder to get a hold of these skins. You can put a dent in it that way as well. Rather than getting rid of the point of having differant skins. Take em down AA.com, Spread the word! |
Unfortunately there seems to be a bit of confusion on the aims and methods of my new fixes. Unfortunately I must step out for a bit, however below is some info cut from the other thread that might give you some more info. I'll add a real post once I get home in an hour or so. :) Thanks BB for posting about it not kicking folks and trying to clear this up.
The new mod doesn't actually kick anyone for anything. What it can do right now related to this is: 1) Force the client to have force models On or Off 2) Force the client to use a particular skin for Allied/Axis Admins will be able to configure it any which way, and I will be working on more options for filtering. Right now it's pretty basic, brute force so to speak, but even with just those two options it gives the admin several possibilites. |
So if you change it so that, say the "US Army" model is forced by the server, the cheater simply renames their bright skin to the same as the US Army guy.
|
I for one dont mind having my skin switched, but I will also ask admins to add certain skins to there server, go to rude's aa.com server site, those jap skins rock
|
gone too far... seriously come on. soon were all going to have to use the same key map cause some asshole thinks that having keys binded is a cheat.. even though alot do. just leave the game.. and also by putting this little mod of urs up.. wont that just make everyones skins they put so much hard work into worthless? were destroying something we use to enjoy, well i still enjoy making player skins and using them.
|
I will be using forced models on the AA.com game server, but will also keep an updated number of skins on the server, unless you want to use Glow in the dark skins then you don't have to worry.
When the time comes ( when we start using this mod and I will let everyone know ) send me an email with the skins you wish to use and I will up them to the server. Thus not effecting your skins, as long as they are not glow in the dark skins. so no need to worry Zoner, You will still be able to use your custom skins as long as I have a copy of them on the server. WOW, that almost sounds like "who's on first" skit by Abbot and Costello oOo: |
DogMeat should get paid for all he's been doing for us.
|
Thanx rude, man. I'd be all for that. I don't care if the server picks a skin for me, so long as I can use Force Models.
I use the Canadian skins for the Allies...that's really the only custom skin I use. Here's the link so you can add it to the server whenever you do that stuff: http://www.alliedassault.com/pafiledb/p ... ile&id=262 Cheers, Zone |
Yes, whats been said recently is much better than my original perception. I still dont think that will be the kind of mod that makes it to our server. Like I have said before, you can paint me any color you want, you still have to shoot me before I shoot you.
|
The best use of this mod as far as I can tell would be for clan matches. It is a sure way to make sure that there is no advantage gained by either side. I like the idea of this mod in the above capacity but I think for gameplay that's just for fun i think its a bit over the top. Anyway.. as usualy... there's my penny's worth of thought.
|
I think those nades are foolish, and should be taken from the files. As for the weapons, this dosen't bother me, because like Strik0r said, you can just turn off Full Models in options to hide the rifle.
You guys have to remember, Dodd dosen't check every single file that is sent to AA.COM, so he can't be responcible for upping a mod that can be considered unfair. |
