I don't see how anyone can diss Spielberg...we should be dissing your ass for giving us nothing...he gave us very cool movies

09-02-2002 08:01 PM

john woo for all of you people who like shooting stuff

Miscguy 09-02-2002 08:41 PM

John Woo fucked up Mission Impossible 2. Granted its not hard to do but all his "woo'ing" just made shit to fake. Fake to the point of lameness.

Watch the motorcycle chase. Keep an eye on how many times the tires change. They start with a street tire rolling onto the island. Go to a dirt tire when Ethan gets the bike after shooting the guy off. Then its back to street tires. Then on the beach they give you a close up and there dirt track tires again. Small detail that drives me nuts everytime i watch it. Over all i think he takes things over the top.

Innoxx 09-02-2002 08:45 PM

Coppolla and Scorcese (sp) are good too.

Tripper 09-02-2002 08:52 PM

simple, it's his fault everyone thinks MK 4s are called "armored tank"

Tripper 09-02-2002 10:09 PM

Well, I don't think all Rangers knew what EVERY type of f*cking tank in Europe was called. And even if they did, they probably wouldn't care in the heat of battle.....So it is still an accurate portrayal in my books....Just not for assclown-fanboys.

You try making a period movie with EVERYthing EXACTLY historically accurate.

Old Reliable 09-02-2002 10:11 PM

John Woo fucked up Wind Talkers as well. IT was so fucking inaccurate and lame. It was so typical John Woo style. And worst they added Nicolas Cage in it as well. That lamer.

09-03-2002 08:51 AM

john woo isn't for people who take out the pad and pen at the theaters and write down every discrepency they see. he's for people who just like lots of action. if you are too busy measuring tread thickness or consulting your local library for history lessons you are missing that big ass explosion in the background. go see his earlier work, it's a lot better than some of his latest. don't forget the badass double-pistol packing guys he's famous for.

Spielberg is over-rated. Did anyone see AI. That's one of the worst movies I've seen since the Fifth Element.

as far as Spielberg films the only ones I liked were the Indy series (and that was mostly the work of George Lucas) and SPR up to the end battle (which had all of the movies inaccuracies) (maybe they were trying to hurry up and finish and were tired of making the movie all accurate and stuff biggrin: )

(I have to censor for wook)

09-04-2002 08:01 AM

do you trolls (Germ especially) have nothing better to do than send threads down the crapper?

anyway back to Spielberg's "tank tank"

This is a lot like the Mig-28 in Top Gun, a person I know said he saw some lady buying an F-5 Tiger for her kid and she told him it was a Mig-28, despite the fact that it says F-5 on the box and the fact that in the movie "charlie" explains that the "migs" they are fighting are F-5s. hake:

civillians are stupid about what they see in the movies, so producers and directors have to be very careful to be accurate, look how far "tank tank" got to.

Tripper 09-04-2002 02:30 PM

BOY! Give Spielbegr some credit....It was a GREAT film....And if you can't watch it cause of ONE minor slip up, I suggest that YOU try and make the same film, NO mistakes...TOTALLY historically accurate.

But I do see where you are coming from with the whole, Other people messing up cause of what they saw in the film thing. I'm sure it happens to all.....For instance, if you watched a film on 'Under-Water-Basket-Weaving' and you go around quoting the movie, calling the flax they used in it, "2.5" inchs....When in fact the proffesionals use "2.1" Then enthusiats about the sport would get pissed off with you too. It happens to the best of us. Not everyone can be a WW2 Enthusiast....
