Chronic Diarrhea 09-03-2002 10:49 PM

Signs and We Were Soldiers are my 2 picks so far.

Zap. USMC 09-03-2002 10:54 PM

We Were Soldiers was another good one.

No Zap, its just plain disturbing.

Although i've seen a number of great films this year, the ones that are on my mind right now are Minority Report and Spiderman.
of course LOTR was fantastic, just as good for the 5th time too but those 2 really stuck fast. can't wait for the twin towers and loads more films to come, like the matrix films cool:

Zap. USMC 09-03-2002 10:59 PM

mr. miyagi, are you a woman?

09-03-2002 11:01 PM

Tripper 09-03-2002 11:09 PM

Aaah, Zap.....She's NAUGHTY.

Best movie for me:....Black Hawk Down...

Pyro 09-03-2002 11:10 PM

Jay and Silent Bob Strike back, Road to Perdition, and Signs

Tripper 09-03-2002 11:15 PM

Jay & Silent Bob was a good ending for the Jersey trilogy...But as a stand alone movie, it sucks ass! Its just a bunch of dick and fart jokes. Unless you are a fan of Smith's other movies, its utter BS!

09-03-2002 11:18 PM

what's the poit to jay and silent bob anyways. and they were in the film dogma so is jay and silent bob and sequel or soemthign?

they were in clerks, mallrats and chasing amy also

like Tripper said it was the end of the Jersey Trilogy

Tripper 09-03-2002 11:28 PM

Lemme fill ya in.

This guy called Kevin Smith, made this film called 'Clerks' back in 1994, it was filmed on a VERY low budget, black & white etc. And made it to film festivals winning awards, and gaining cult status as an Indie film. The film had the two minor characters Jay & Silent Bob....Silent Bob is played by Kevin Smith himself....(The Writer/Director of Clerks, and the following)

He then made: 'Mallrats' which flopped. Also had Jay & Silent Bob
He then made: 'Chasing Amy' which did very well....A romantic comedy. Also had Jay & Silent Bob
He then made: 'Dogma' a religous comedy, with Jay & Silent Bob.

All these films have the same group of actors....Mainly: Ben Affleck, Joey Lauren Adams, Jason Lee, Brian O'Halloran....And a whole lot of others I'm forgetting....Of course Jay (Played by Jason Mewes) & Silent Bob.
They characters are all in these alternating dimensions...Revolving around Red Bank, New Jersey...

He then made Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back, as a finish to all these films, tieing them all in together, featuring most of the characters who have starred in his previous movies.

Signs - will scare the shit out of you

Black Hawk Down - great war flick, but you guys know that :)

Austin Powers 3 - funny...but just more of the same

Wow, I know I've seen more movies then that...at 7 bucks a flick, youd think you would at least remember what you payed for....

SoLiDUS 09-04-2002 04:40 AM

Murder by Numbers was pretty good...
Ice Age (Disney movie) owned... SQRAT PWNZ J00 !

But my favorite has to be AND1 Mixtape Volume 5!

Sotilas Jane 09-04-2002 04:53 AM

Uh... Star Wars hake:

Zoner 09-04-2002 08:38 AM

I've seen a few movies this year:

- Jason X: Terrible movie, but I loved every second of it! I'm a HUGE Friday 13th fan, so I had a great time...can't wait for the DVD.

- Star Wars: Attack of the Clones: Friggin' awesome. I was blown away.

- Spiderman: See Star Wars: Attack of the Clones

- MIB2: Sucked HARD. I was nodding off toward the end of it.

- Austin Powers in Goldmember: Very funny in parts, overall not quite as good as the 2nd one

- We Were Soldiers: Incredible. I wish I got my ass out to the theatre to see this one, instead of seeing it on DVD.

- Signs: Spooky, funny, tense...all around great movie.

- Undercover Brother: SOLID! Whatta laugh! Rent this one, boys n' girls.

- Blade 2: Rocked! Getting the DVD this week.

- LOTR: Yeah, I know it was last year, but it still rocked!

Ok, I'll stop now...my fave would be Star Wars.

Milla 09-04-2002 02:22 PM

I would have to say Black hawk down (it was released this january ya know) But Road to perdition and signs are the other 2 good ones of the year so far

7 bucks? Oh how I wish...

Do you know what it costs me to go to a movie here?

$13.50

Its so fugging expensive, thats why i have a friend who works there and gets me free tickets. evil:

09-04-2002 04:15 PM

i would have to say 40 days and 40 nights. we were soldiers didnt really do it for me :\

Milla 09-04-2002 04:24 PM

OMG we were soldiers i forgot about that one, i love it, one of the best nam' movies, platoon sucks penis i hate it!

09-04-2002 04:45 PM

ahh just cause platoon was made in the 80s and had crappier special effects i still think platoon is one of the best vietnam film, really it's funny cause there's this part where willem defoe does the weed and he then becomes gay and dances

Milla 09-04-2002 04:48 PM

No dude its not the special effects, its just an overall bad movie

09-04-2002 04:50 PM

personally i prefer platoon over we were soldiers.

09-04-2002 05:06 PM

platoon was like not about the conflict but it was more about the 3 main characters sgt barnes that willem defoe and charlie sheen it was about the tragedie that took place when the 2 guys had a conflict. the movie seem more dramatic

Zap. USMC 09-04-2002 05:18 PM
No dude its not the special effects, its just an overall bad movie[/quote:19b92]

Yeah, that's your opinion.

I thought Platoon was a good Nam' movie, in my opinion.

That's Canadian currency, correct?

Making our ticket about a dollar or so in difference.

-KLugE- 09-04-2002 06:41 PM

I'd have to say my favourite movie of this year is Road to Perdition. I think it was flawless. It should have a good running for Best Picture this year.

Signs was also a very good suspense/thriller/sci-fi movie. freaky.

Captain Bunny 09-04-2002 06:48 PM
No dude its not the special effects, its just an overall bad movie[/quote:99dad]
i didnt think it was a bad movie, i thought it was exellent. it involved the audience to feel emotions and showed a much darker side to vietnam, rather than most gun-ho-glory-to-the-americans-in-vietnam-gook-slaughter-fest films.

My fav movie this year has to be shawshank redemption. I saw it for the first time this year. wow. what a film.

Pyro 09-04-2002 10:18 PM

$13.50 is true

but if you go to cineplex grand or something at Orion Gate in Brampton it is $6.99 at night and wherte yours is $13.50 and $4.99 matinees

it is great...Famous Players can suck a cock for all I care

Yes, but it doesn't work that way.

You can't take things from the states multiply it by what our dollar is worth and come up with the Canadian value. It doesn't work like that. It works on revenues expenses supply and demand. And 100 other factors. Some things are cheaper in Canada...well everything is cheaper for Americans in Canada since the dollar is so shitty, but comparitivley some things are cheaper in Canada and some things are cheaper in the States. It all has to do with what the consumer wants.
