Anti cheat software!!!
Hey guys, just stumbled accross this thought it might be just what people are looking for hehehe
fire1: MOHAA anticheat M16: Only thing is that it checks which pk3 files are loaded too, and if the clients list doesnt match the configuration list...... BYE BYE client ,,,, so if the client has a custom map, that you havent said is aloud to be loaded for players on your server then it kicks them...... Ideal for all this no-recoil, no-bushes etc..... but it means someone has to sit and physically enter all the details of the aloud pk3 files, includes skins, weapon & targeting skins, custom maps..... However..... what i was actually thinking of was maybe CK could have a look at the code?!? and maybe design something thats not as hard to sort for all these custom pk3 files.... It also has a nice feature re:opengl... The file normally used for wallhacks?!? if the client isnt using one of the ones listed as genuine, again it boots them...... And last but not least, it can supposedly tell if someone is using a wallhack, how i dunno but the option is there for it..... See ya laterz peeps |
comforting to know they can simply open up one of the pak files and add files to it then everyone will say "it's impossible for them to cheat, we have anti cheat software"

It would help to a degree, but it could potentially reduce player numbers drastically. I mean, how many maps are out there? There are lots of legitmate files (avatars, HUD mods, map fixes and so on) that could potentially get missed in the config list. This would mean plenty of legitimate players would get kicked.
At the same time, what Strik0r said is right. You could just hide the offending files in legitimate pk3s. It's a step in the right direction though. The more people working on anti cheating mods we have, the better. |
i cant even find a decent way to chop my maps down to whats on servers other than manually checking them all..... all the damn last-accessed times are the same cause they all get loaded.
that thing dont look to crash hot if kicks foreign PK3s by default. like you said though be good if its got source available. r3mix |
Perhaps if there was a way to have it just load the pk3's and other files that the server's using. Well, what I mean is disable those not OK'd by the server. Sure this would mean a great deal of valid files would be rendered useless, but it would be yet another step in the right direction without losing peeps due to unnecessary kicking.
Just a thought. I wouldn't know enough about the scripting engine to guess what's possible and what's not. hake: |

i have downloaded it and gave it a whirl, and it works nice it disables pk3's the server does not have running so i dont see the problem all u do is rename the file back to a pk3 .

umm the problem is if i want to use my crosshair i have to ask the admin nicely to include it

So let me get this straight. If the client has a PK.3 file that is not listed on the server's "OK" list, that user get's booted? Or does it just disable that players PK.3. Either way I am putting it on our servers. We do a nice job of keeping up with the maps out there, check our website for the list of maps our servers use. Even if it boots some clients that aren't cheating, I think it is still worth it. The OGL would surely benefit from this. |

[/quote:d73fb] well i cant get the link to work but the 2 guys in the thread whove tried it say different things. personally i think it would be limited to kicking people because you cant join a server without the game running and if you have the game running the PK3s are already loaded and renaming/disabling them is not possable. unless this is a full-blown game browser like ASE where IT can poll servers for information AND connect for you its just gonna knock people back on joining. if you give it a run on a server let us know how many players you have in a 24 hour period..... should be able to count them on your fingers. r3mix |

It actually scans the server in sweeps like CK's autokick, and checks to see what files the client has loaded....... i think the client program allows people to Question a server to find which PK3 files are aloud on the server but have not tested that as yet....... But i am hoping CK or someone can get into the code of it and maybe make it a bit better as so rather than booting them, it will only allow the client to use the OK'd PK3's!! We will have to wait and see! |

He even has some diagrams and documentation too, looks interesting 'cept it needs to run on the client to work. Still, I think the cheating client can still just rename his pak files to get around it. |
So wait.... the CLIENT needs to have this running aswell?? That would make it pretty much useless. oOo:

No actually its a great idea. Kinda like having to have a custom map downloaded in order to play on the server. If it works, admins would be installing it and players would be downloading it if they want to play. It appears at this point that the server really has no ability to control what happens at the client level (due to problems with sv_pure, etc) so a third party tool may be the right idea. Apparently the client portion looks for the original pak filesand OpenGl dll files.Im still skeptical about whether the client can change his pak files and the tool not be aware of it. Also sounds like this may be a problem for custom maps????
It appears to be aimed at stopping Wall hacks, Aimbots, and the likes. It looks like its capable of stopping most Hacks, be interesting if someone has access to Hacks to try it and post the results. |
well I tried it on completely default version of mohaa and it kicked me so not likely to be using this I dont think.
Great idea though and be nice to know how it works out in the future. |

i dunno what happened to bring this back.
nice website there man just one thing.... this.... "Data transfer with 5120 bits encryption" ....has got to be crap. i run PGP with 4096 bit encryption which puts best estimate of cracking my messages a few millenium after the death of our sun. thats plain text block getting encrypted.... not a stream of data. you run anything that encrypts stream data with something that ridiculously big you gonna be upgrading your CPU just to use it and forget seconds of lag.... you spot an enemy dont bother shooting.... hes already finished playing.... had dinner.... watched the late night movie and in bed by now. ecommerce SSL 128bit uncracked. you using something bigger for MoH why? |
Maybe some admins need to set this thing up and give it a try. If it does what they say, its everything that DogMeat was saying was necessary to do cheat detection. It validates pk3s, dlls,openGL and Aimbots. Also allows for installation of custom maps.
r3mix: Appears to me to have all of the features that you and GI.Jerk were going on about in the other post. These guys have already made one. Enough debate and theory, try it and see. **just my .$02 !!! |

While this is a great idea, it has a few problems:
1) Not integrated into the engine (standalone EXE), meaning it can't be run directly on Linux, Rented Servers, or Macs. It can run on another computer, much like AutoKick, since it uses RCON commands. 2) Appears to only use RCON commands, which are very limited. May also cause noticable bandwidth usage. 3) There is a commonly known workaround that lets you avoid tripping the cheat detection, giving a false sense of security. The workaround lets you run any pak file hack you want; including invisible doors, neon skins, etc. This is not to say that I disagree totally with what this system does, since it will stop some cheating. However I myself won't be using it. |
