American Marines wrote "shithead" in big block letters across his duct-tape blindfold, kicked and punched their helpless prisoner. They even posed for souvenir photos next to him while they threatened to murder him.

Lol, they adapted and ovecame!

That is fucked up, i think walker's sentence should be reduced and he should not be allowed to leave the country, or listen to LL cool J.

BallisticWookie 09-08-2002 06:41 AM

?? He did the wrong thing, so he should pay for it. The same goes for the Australian found over there. I have no sympathy for them. They got and will hopefully get exactly what they deserve. A lengthy time in jail, although, that may even be too good for them or anybody like them.

I see you didn't get it...

BallisticWookie 09-08-2002 07:07 AM

Didnt get what ?? That he was fucked over ?? Boohoo. Tell me, is there any substantial proof that he "never fired his weapon" ?? Give me a fucking break. And he went to Afghanistan and decided to fight for the Taliban, but never really took sides ?? hake: Well he sure as fuck joined the wrong side that time didnt he ??

I'm not disputing the fact that the "Justice system" is flawed, ofcourse it is, so is everyone elses, and those Marines should be kicked out of the Corps with Dishonourable Discharge written on their papers. He may have been in the wrong place at the wrong the time, but the fact is, he was carrying a weapon for a "government" that supported terrorism and carried out it's own terror tactics to keep it's "citizens" in line. Bad choice for a guy who apparently wasnt taking sides while carrying a rifle and 2 grenades.

Once again, the US government has shown it's stupidity in dealing with the Taliban, like it has in the past with other groups and governments, just like when the US and Britain decided to help the Mujahideen in the 80's. They trained and equiped todays most dangerous terrorists. I know these governments should think before they act, fact is they dont, but thats what politcians do best.

Does any of this change my opinion on the sentence he got ?? No, it doesnt. He did the wrong thing, and all those other court rulings are evidence to me that the US judicial system needs a big fucking overhaul.

Mr.X 09-08-2002 02:36 PM

...yes ...sob... he never should have been treated that way,he should have been treated the
same way as the US soldier that fell from the 'copter, and was taken "prisoner" by the taliban....
he is just like the "Australian" found there...just studying the koran?....
give me a fucking break....

ninty 09-08-2002 02:38 PM

Tell me what he did wrong.

You can't, because he did nothing wrong.

Pfc.Green 09-08-2002 02:39 PM

Of course he was studying the koran...it just had all the pages torn out and had an AK-47 manual taped inside.

...erm, tell me how you know he did nothing wrong...?....you can't because you were not there,
...he was, however, carrying arms for a designated enemy, if he is a victim of circumstances, they were his chosen circumstances.
He claims he never shot at Allied troops....I suppose you also witnessed this?

ninty 09-08-2002 03:29 PM

So you did see this?

SoLiDUS 09-08-2002 03:33 PM

OMFG

You guys (ninty9 not included) are so blind! You still don't get it! It's a
simple reading exercise and you can't even do it properly.

And people say they aren't brainwashed...

EDIT: Removed an offensive word and replaced it with something politically
correct... so that Green and his buddies don't nag me to death.

Mr.X 09-08-2002 03:47 PM

Solidus, when people think you are full of shit...that's not "brainwashed"...that is their opinion....
I read it, teach, and I have my opinion....if you want to insult me, then fuck you.

Chronic Diarrhea 09-08-2002 04:06 PM

I don't really think Green cares about political correctness. I sure don't, and I'm a Republican/Conservative.

Zap. USMC 09-08-2002 04:19 PM

Give me a fuckin' break...

He better be fucking glad he's alive.

Mr.X 09-08-2002 04:40 PM

...yep, so what if that article is about legal inconsistency, so the law is (frequently) an ass...no suprises there,
it's still Solidus pushing his John Lindh barrow....again....

Old Reliable 09-08-2002 04:44 PM

I think he's brainwashed thinking that people are brainwashed

spooge...could you please give your definition of conservative?

as you have stated, it varies from person to person. my father seems to believe it is based on making something of yourself by working...and things along those lines.

No, it's an informative article detailing how Lindh ISN'T a fucking terrorist as
you so perfectly label him. He fought for a cause over there WAY before any
of these attacks were made and he had NOTHING to do with them.

Why he decided to fight with a resistance group over there is beyond me,
but it's NO EXCUSE for labelling him a terrorist and throwing him in jail 20
(jesus, murderers get a fifth that sentence) fucking years. He was indeed railroaded.

[quote:28c73]Now let's consider the case of John Walker Lindh, who so far as we know killed no one yet got 20 years-and that with a plea bargain! "I provided my services as a soldier to the Taliban last year from about August to November," he said as part of the plea arrangement. "During the course of doing so I carried a rifle and two grenades." Technically, this was a crime; President Clinton had signed a little-known 1999 executive order linking the Taliban to Al Qaeda, a terrorist organization. However, both Clinton and George W. Bush violated such executive orders themselves by dealing with the Taliban-and by providing them with financing and arms in attempts to bribe their way to an oil pipeline deal and reduce heroin production. So why aren't those two criminals chanting morning prayers in Guantánamo? Shouldn't they have to cut a deal too?

Lindh didn't go to Afghanistan to fight the United States-an act that would have made him a traitor had war ever been declared. He joined one side in the Afghan civil war between the Taliban and the Northern Alliance. During that conflict, from 1996 to 2001, the U.S. assiduously avoided favoring one side over another.

At Mazar he was captured by the Northern Alliance, not the U.S. The fact that CIA agent Spann traveled with Alliance forces and interrogated prisoners doesn't change that reality, and the government offered no evidence that Lindh attacked or offered resistance to U.S. personnel. The United States never declared war against the Taliban-therefore, there was no legal basis for charges against Lindh.[/quote:28c73]

Did anyone here actually read this investigative essay before proceeding to
his beheading anyway?

Innoxx 09-08-2002 05:48 PM

This reminded me of that one scene in Band of Brothers when they captured those germans and one of them happened to be american..... then spiers shot them all.....hmmmmmm. I don't think they are going easy on walker, so what if he's just young? fuck you. About those northern alliance and us forces who threated him like shit? well, i think they deserve a little payback, and i think the military is too soft these days.

it is my personal opinion, that that has to do with a fucked up justice system...however, being labeled a terrorist does in fact go hand in hand with that. you make a valid point. it seems as if our rights as americans are being taken away by the newly formed ways of being labeled a terrorist.

Old Reliable 09-08-2002 05:50 PM

Well seeing as it is an article from a cartoonist, it's not something I take into high regard.

what a man does for a living should have nothing to with the amount of respect he gets (except of course...if its being done illegally)

if it was written by a garbage man, a truck driver, a corporate businessman..it would make no difference. the point is still there.

Have you seen the entire mini-series Innox? I would like to explain more, but I know there are quite a few peeps here who haven't and I guess I shouldn't spoil it.

Something else I should add to Summers already good retort: do you know
who Christopher Langan is ? He's just one of the smartest men in america
today and is working on a TOE... but we should ignore him because he lacks
credentials, right ?

We should definitely ignore his masterpiece in the making because his
main source of income comes from his work as a bouncer in a nightclub.
I didn't want to rub it in your face, but you asked for it.

Old Reliable 09-08-2002 06:40 PM
