Am I the only one groaning and rolling my eyes at the latest bit put out by EA?
I must admit that I stopped salivating over the anticipation of an expansion pack a while ago, and am now just waiting to see what makes the final cut.
EA had promised a lot of things with Allied Assault that left you scratching your head and wondering what happened to it between them and you.
I scoff because after reading this lateset bit, I'm left wondering what they are going leave out this time. They aren't even mentioning the SDK, and
Cooperative multiplay is a pipedream. Instead we are getting the Tug of War map (ok? It's new and good, but just not high on my list), and a server filter, (what???? something that could be done by GS, ASE, or my brain in the current version. Know your favorites or write them down like everyone else.) Oh, oh, oh, they're giving us realism and speed boost! Uhhh, right.
What the hell are they wasting time on that for? We have realism mods up the yinyang! You can't throw a mouse without hitting one. Same with speed mods, and just about everything else. I thought it was supposed to be that way from the start! They payed that Capt. Dale guy to make it "real". What the heck happened to that action? Why would they have to put in "realism" now?

So basically, this is how I'm beginning to see it. EA in a bold, but disappointing move, has looked at what the community has done, taken as much as they could, and taken ten months to package it up real purty and dish it out to us for $30.
They are using the modders of this community to make a buck. "Oh, see, it's a map contest. We may or may not give you credit, but you'll have bragging rights, ok?"
So out with the expansion and it's few new weapons. With it's new maps that you the community made, with it's mods that you made. Out with the money that you make to pay for the stuff that you made. What a sham.
I doubt very highly that we'll see an SDK. I'm quite sure that the only innovation that we'll see is from Scorpio and the other modders of this community.
And we'll still pay. I'm a sucker. You know you are. We're like a bunch of Charlie Brown's thinking, "She can't pull that football away again, she's done it a thousand time's, she's got to hold it this time, please,please, please."

So go ahead and prove me wrong EA. I know you won't, but it would be nice. bigzooka: EA

I'll buy the expansion happily. And I'm not ashamed to say it.

I've already pre-paid my game at my local EB and I'm just waiting for it to hit the shelves.

I will buy it also.

I wonder if EA has an SDK or just "stealing" stuff from the community.

The way Scorpio is going. There will be nothing left for EA to release.

Let's just hope they surprise us. *cough* patch *cough*

Cause EA doesn't care about its customers. They only care for their filthy money. They showed almost no support for MOHAA besides 2 patches and a shitty map editor. They only reason I'd buy it was if my warez version won't run multiplayer.

lol, so ture, isn't exactly what i got from this post, I am just getting a normal frustrastion for EA, it happens, and frankly on a few occasions it is warranted.

But offcourse i will 'get' the game the day it comes out, and well I am not gonna say much more -- considering forum 'laws'

But hell, don't make the normal dissapointments from EA bother you, infact there are no games out there that can't be better, and the things that can't be better will eventually be modded -- so don't worry soon or later there will be the thing you want for the game you want, and if there isn't well there is only one way to do it 'right'

But enough rambaling for me.

I hope nobody gets me wrong in this and thinks that I'm saying to give up on MOH. I think it's the greatest game of it's genre despite EA's poor efforts. I'll get the exp. as soon as it comes out, by hook or by crook. I'm just saying that I'll be looking to Scorpio, CrowKing, and all those Modders out there to keep the game alive. How long before one of these guys crack the source code?
I was also trying to point out the irony of the fact that the blokes who have maps in the pack will have to pay for their own material. If you've posted or emailed or modded, you're paying for your own work.
I got the feeling from that article that EA has just taken the work of others, dusted it off and polished it up, only to sell it back to the people they took it from.
Much more of that behavior and they'll sink to the status of lawyers in my opinion, (okay, say the ones that file suits sueing the fast food industry for making someone obese. Or did you hear the one of the sex offender who fled, was captured, then sued the sheriff's dept. for the two toes he lost to frostbite because, "they failed to find him in a timely manner". But I digress,)
EA's already on par with politicians in my book, and the whole lot isn't fit to lick my jakes out. So there.

My thoughts exactly, By the time it comes out we will already have all the features available to us. I for one have not played this game in a couple of weeks, I'm trying to rebuild my hunger for the game. I actually haven't played any games online for a couple of weeks. I think I may be coming down with something. biggrin:

Okay Priest, I mostly agree with you , it looks like EA is taking mods already out there and selling them back . But their marketing people are not dummies , all they have to do is look at the huge server list and of course the fact that MOHAA has stayed in the top ten seller list for 9 months and they go to the CEO and tell him " Hey, just put MOH on the box and they'll buy it" . And you know what ? They're right. biggrin:

You know, when you inadvertently get one of these threads going that seem to picque peoples ire, and get them riled up, I kind of feel like Brad Pitt in "The Twelve Monkeys".
