Make an AI run in multiplayer??
Ive been trying to build a multiplayer map in which one team has to defend a prison and kill an important POW when he's rescued, whereas the other team has to free him and then escort him to safety... Now it's possible to put an AI unit (friendly or monster) in the map, even ones that can be killed to trigger a victory, but I can't seem to trigger them to start running. Is that completely impossible? Anyone have scripting tricks/ideas on how to do that?
What I'm thinking of is quite simple, a dumb POW, standing in his cell... Allies take out guards, open door, and trigger him to run (important that axis cant trigger the door) POW runs a standard path (or maybe: has 3 or 4 paths, randomly chooses one) and runs. Once he reaches a safe point, allied victory. If axis kill him or time is up: axis win. Anyone? |
I dont know anything about scripting or anything else, but that sounds like a really cool map. Good luck and I hope to be playing it soon!

AI DOGS
It would be possible to put guard Dogs in the prision. I put Dogs in my Farm House map to guard vehicles and buildings. Only problem is that the Dogs will attack both AXIS and ALLIED players. I'm sure that you could script two sets of Dogs, one that is friendly toward ALLIED and attacks AXIS, and vice versa. Someone like Scorpio could figure this out.
I like the idea of freeing the POW and returning him to safety. Have you thought about adding Vehicles in the map. Once the POW is freed from his cell, he could jump in a truck and be driven to safety. |
Nice suggestions...
That would be cool I guess. I'm just kind of worried that a multiplayer map/game can't get access to the AI's runto/walkto etc. commands... Does anyone with better insight than I have in scripting for multiplayer know something about this?
Also, could it be possible to make one of the PLAYERS act as POW? I'm just thinking this right now.... Hmmmm. ONe question since I haven't played your map yet: do these dogs move around or are they simply, like, sedentary, standing in one place? Arens. |
