HELP NEEDED - PLEASE READ - Game won't start!!!!!

This just happened today. I go to load the game, either by All Seeing Eye or the normal single play mode and the display mode screen comes up "The game was shutdown inproperly..or whatever - How do you want to start the game, safe mode, regular, restart windows...yahdahyahdah".

I try safe mode, it accepts, and the little load screen shows - the one you can still see your desktop - but then give me the display mode menu again. I then try 'Regular', same thing.

Has this happened to anyone before? I've tried reloading the came from "THE ORIGINAL CD" (No this isn't a hacked/pirated version - games too good for that).

I've cleaned the reg as best as I could , but still the same thing. I originally thought it was the CD, as it's a bit bashed about - constant play.

I have run out of ideas...HELP.

Thanks,

Hmmm, have you tried uninstalling and then re-installing the game?

Or try the recovery option on the other disk (i think) anyone can advise me on that!?!

I've uninstalled it, and reinstalled it. Same thing. I'm thinking there is something in the registry which is making it do that? So far, I haven't found it. Its starting to piss me off as I can't play MP or even SP.

DAMN DAMN....Is the expansion pack a stand alone?

Try this thread to uninstall the game and any reg. entries

Great, thanks RudeDog. I'll give it a go. Hopefully it works...

Nope. Doesn't look like it worked. I ran regclean. Got rid of every instance of MOHAA and EA GAMES. Still the same problem.

There has to be something....

Anyone else know of a solution????

Can you please post ur system specs?

Processor
RAM
Video card
OS

Hopefully, this is a driver/directx problem.

Captain Canuck 10-23-2002 06:20 PM

System Specs:

Athlon ThunderBird 800
ATI Radeon 7500
640meg SDRAM
XP Pro

I've run it on this system since it was out. No problems. Just recently this has occurred.

Could be DirectX, but I don't have the beta of 8 or 9. I don't think I've done any driver upgrades??

DirectX 8.1 isn't beta. MOHAA should have installed the right DirectX anyways...
