How to get your Joystick working!

Hi... just thought I'd share this. freak:

How to get your Joysitck working!

in console, type this

bind j "toggle in_joystick;cl_pitchspeed 0;cl_yawspeed 0"

(This adds a couple of lines to your unnamedsoldier.cfg file in MOH\main\configs directory.)

Then your Joystick will work. Forward and Backward will work, but you will have to bind your buttons.

in console, type this (examples only)

bind JOY1 "+leanleft"
bind JOY2 "+leanright"

BUT BUT BUT!!!
When you exit, make sure you turn it off by pressing "j" again. Or else the next time you start MOHAA it won't work.
If you did exit without turning the Joystick off, you will have to delete one (1) line from your "unnamedsoldier.cfg" file.
This is the line you must delete (located under the Cvars section).
--it looks something like this, I can't really remember lol, sorry--

seta in_joystick "1"

There ya go.. enjoy yourselves! fire1: fire2: bigzooka: eatthis:

PS!!! if you know how to get around this problem please post it here, because it pees me off.

Oh yeah! plus if you know how to bind the lean to the forward motion and backward motion, I would really like to know wink: I use my steering wheel pedals for forward and back, but I would like to use them for lean instead biggrin:

is the jotstick better to use or is the mouse the best way to go

Bane 10-23-2002 10:08 AM

I've never used the joystick in MOHAA, but I'd still say the mouse is the way to go. I would think you'd have more accurate and precise control of the crosshair with the mouse.

I've played the entire MOH series on PlayStation and PS2. After using the mouse for MOHAA it's hard to go back to a controller.

i have played all shoot 'em ups with a mouse so i am not changing from that, unless they bring a sniper or gun out to fire at the monitor with cool:

.

Can't beat the mouse for aim. There's no way I'd use the joystick for a FP game. fire2:

But there are some people out there who like to use their gamepad. The console commands above will allow you to do that.

I only use my steering wheel pedals, I use the keyboard and mouse for everything else. It's just that my feet were doing nothing, so I thought I might as well get them involved too! lol they were getting bored! biggrin:

Anyone know how to bind the forward and backward motion to leanleft and right?

scotch 10-24-2002 05:33 AM

well i use a joypad and a mouse and it kicks ass ask anyone who has played me.

i hold the pad in my left hand and control the d-pad with my thumb i also have 2 buttons next to the d-pad with i also use with my thumb and there is 2 trigger buttons i control with my forefinger.

and on my right hand i controll my mouse anything else i just put on the numberpad as it is easy to access

so that set up gives me direction and 4 buttons on the joypad and the mouse gives me aim 5 buttons and a scroll key so i all that is 11 functions not including aim and movment. angel:
