Video Hardware Acceleration causing Sound Problems

My sound often screws up I.E emits a squealing noise and comp locks up for a few seconds. So I try turning hardware acceleration down on my sound card (Audigy Gamer) nope that didnt do anything. So I turn down hardware acceleration on my graphics card (Geforce 2 mx 200) and that worked. NOW BIGGER PROBELM. I play battlefield and well as you know it requires T&L so now im screwd x2. Any Ideas? Im thinking new vid card time.

Squealing and computer locks up ? Doesn't sound like it's just the video
card to me. Give me your computer specs and we'll see whether it's the
card or an overheating problem...

In any case, weird.

What it is causing the problem is the hardware acceleration for your sound card. Go to your start menu and in run type DXDIAG itll bring up your DX menu. Go to sound and the harware acceleration slide it all the way to the left and it should work for you. I have a GF2mx400 and i have no lag what so ever so if you cant afford to buy a GF4 ti 4600 go with a GF3ti200 off of ubid.com i have one on order! :) I seen a radeon 9000 pro for $149 at circuit city where i live but i have a GF3 ti200 on order so i dont need the radeon. It is your video card. Good luck and let me know if you need any more help

BTW i forgot to mention my MX400 is overclocked with a heatsink fan running on it. Not on the card itself but inside my tower. Its 2 years old and still running. I seen the radeon pro 9700 for $400!! ed: I wouldnt pay that much for a card.

Actually it is a problem with the dell computers. They have fixed all of them but the model I have. They claim they cant reproduce the problem. Im assuming that it is a direct x problem because open gl games work fine but games like red faction or nhl 2003 dont work for crap. They ran down the problem to faulty pci registers. Right now im in the process of trying to buy a new mobo.
