Friends Can't Connect to me
 

Sometimes some friends of mine can't log into a game if I host, be it by IP address or using the in-game GameSpy directory. Why is this? I do have a firewall, but even disabled they can't log in.

Maybe it's your friends' computer that has the problem.

Try getting somebody else (or a different computer) to connect to your machine.

Hm... yeah, some can and some can't. I'm in a college dorm and at least 2 guys down the hall from me can't connect. My roommate can usually connect, though. Maybe the network is biased against me...

make sure everyone has the right IP and it may have something to do with computer speed because my friends comp is slow and i cant connect to him

I don't think it's speed because I have a 1.8 GHz processor with 512K RAM. And I know they have the right IP. I should've said that they can find my server on GameSpy by my IP addy, but it's in red. I just remembered that part.

never used gamespy but that sounds like you and your friends are running different versions. chech with them whether you all running v1.11

i think its red is incompatible and blue is offline ?!?

edu accounts ( collage dorms) have been blocking certain ports.
Also your friend may be on a different subnet and the campus networking department is blocking those posts between both of you or it could just be a campus routing isssue.

EDU's have been cracking down on gaming , warez and napster related usage.
