Possible to run 2 instances of mohaa_server.exe?

hey all, just want to know if its possible to run 2 instances of moh server on one pc...and what kind of drawback will I get. My server spec: P4 2GHZ CPU, 512 megs of ECC RAMBUS RAM, 100mbit nic running full-duplex mode off a gigabit switch. Thanks for any info.

Yes, I do it all the time.. by default the first server will run on port 12203, and if you open a second server while the first one is open, the ladder will run on port 12204. I was trying to run 2 servers on a p4 2.2 and it was bogging down my machine so i built a dual Xeon 2.8 with a gig of RAM and its fine now.. in fact i could prolly run 4 servers.... also depends on how many people are connecting, and what kind of connection you have...

[tFp] Pestilence,

My connection is 100mbit running off a gigabit switch which ties to an OC-48 backbone

That works, but the fact that its a p4 2ghz might not like 2 full servers.. it might get a little laggy just from processor usage..

Someone had mentioned to this to me (or I read it somewhere), that the ded-server doesn't require as much mem. or proc. usage as running the game itself (because the game doesn't have to generate the graphics or sound as it does when you're playing the game). The example that was used was running moh_server on a 800 mhz with 128 or 256 ram. But then again, that was just one server in the example. My thought is that you shouldn't have too much trouble with 2 servers using the specs that you stated above.

McCusker: Yea I posted that info about the game server. I only tried running 2 games on the same machine one time and had trouble getting connected, but that was another issue and never tried it again.
Actually dual processors usually are only slightly better unless the software application is coded to use multi processors. Many applications are written specifically for certain types of dual processors too.
Pestilence- I have a feeling that your problem may have been more ram related or something else. I dont beleive Mohaa has been optimized for Multi-processors, but I could be wrong. It would be interesting to see if someone has run multiple game servers on single processor machines.
Running a server really needs bandwidth, so running 2 will need twice as much.
