SV_PURE. Exactly what does this do?

i noticed alot of admins wanting this in the expansion. exactly what does this do and how?

appreciate it. ttyl.

SV_Pure = Pure Server. This means that ONLY people with the exact same .PK3 files (Size & Name) as the host can join the server. From what I've heard, I don't think this feature works correctly, though.

MPowell1944 11-04-2002 10:24 AM

oh okay cool. but what about those people who dont compress the folders into a .pk3? cheaters have been known to do that.

Bazooka_Joe 11-04-2002 11:16 AM

Same. If they have different files, they will not be able to play on the server. They need the EXACT same files.

SV_PURE = dream that EA is not capable

pest 11-04-2002 11:47 AM

Does that also mean that custom crosshairs, avatars and such cant be used unless the sever has them? And on the flip side, does that mean you cant play on a server that has extra files and you dont? Or is there a happy medium?

Bazooka_Joe 11-04-2002 12:07 PM

It means exactly the first thing, pest. If the host has a crosshair, you must have it. If you have it, and he dosen't you cannot join. That's what it's sopposed to do anyways, not sure if it works completly in MOH, though.

RushingWaters 11-04-2002 12:09 PM

Doesnt look like there is a happy medium, gotta be the exact same file, so it could limit you to playing on only a few servers

wintersforge 11-04-2002 12:13 PM

well if you can toggle it on and off as admin this should work out. sv_pure for clan matches...sv_pure off for pub servers? who knows....

GhostRider2AD 11-04-2002 01:15 PM

What happens if you play on more than one server. Each has it's own specialty maps, and skins. Sounds like a nightmere for the users to me.

It sure doesnt sound like a solution to me. It has good elements, but to have to be identical to the server is unreasonsable. Just think of the custom maps many of us have loaded.

WOW! what a danm NICE NEWS!!!!

exect.... i hate the default crossair.....

Man , expansion is going to be my house.

rudedog 11-04-2002 04:55 PM

you can have as many pk3 files as you want. With the server running xv_pure you will only use the ones the server has.

So if you server admin has some skins and other minor mods you will be able to use them.
If you go to a server without sv-pure on then all your pk3 files will be used.

I just hope this is true and we do actualy see sv_pure in the EXP

Check out http://www.mohadmin.com on the front page I have the deffinition from a quake site about sv_pure
