Is there any point to an mg-42 in spearhead multi?
I was thinking about this last night and even though everyone bitched about wanting one its probably gonna be the most unused weapon in mu,ltiplayer.
Think about it, its on a laffette mount so you can't fire it when on the move, and when you do plonk it down and start firing you're basically sniper fodder. eek: The only way i can see this being in any way usefull is if you set it up behind a doorway or you can probably defend your spawn area. As an offensive weapon though it will probably be useless. cry: Another problem i have with the implementation of the mg is lag. When you set up the mg it will behave the same as the mg's in normal moh:aa maps aside from the fact that it needs reloaded. Now try firing an mg-42 with a ping of around 80 or so and you will see its a pain in the ass to do and its very sluggish. Since the mg's in spearhead basically become static turrets when you deploy them they will most likely have that annoying lag\sluggish movement associated with them as well. cry: |

It'll definitely be used more in a clan situation, I think. Regular "run n' gun" games won't have too many of 'em.
When you need to defend, you'll see some MG-42s. Who knows...this "tug-o-war" multiplayer mode might be great for the MG-42. I guess we'll see! Zone |

I would use the portable MG if I had some support for it. It will be pretty pointless in a game where everyone is running around individually, however in a clan match I think it might come in handy, and is also very cool. Unfortunatley, i;m not in a clan so i'll probably be dying a lot from snipers.

The MG-34 and the MG-42 were both very important in German infantry strategy; the infantry being able to fire as many bullets as possible in the shortest amount of time. The whole point of any Germany "rifle infantry" was to support the machinegunner. This strategy was created since Germany had a limited amount of troops due to the Versailles Treaty after the war. Since this game is not even close to realistic, that strategy goes to the gutter; thus, the MG-42 is completely useless.
