Custom Compass - Huh?
Okay, so I've spent most of the day modding my game. Making things look Spearheadish in Allied Assault. Just general goofing off, basically. Editing localization and sound files. Playing with the HUD. Anyway, so I'm making a custom compass and I go into the game to check it out and it's simply not there. Huh? I downloaded some other mods to check that my directory tree and what not was correct, and it was. But when I load the game, no back to the compass. Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong?

Strange things go bump in the night...
That and I really could use some help ;) |
I'd have to see it. Sounds weird but i really cant be sure untill i see the files

I guess my question is are there specific requirements for things such as image size and surrounding colors, etc
|
yeah size is 128 x 128 then alpha channel shit but ok...
|
Sorry, I'm new at this =\
|
Here is the file I used.. hope this helps.. someone should make a Scope/Compass/Health Bar Guide ;)
compassback.tga Unless someone wants to make a 203rd compass for me, lol =P |
Your alpha channel is clear. That's why it doesn't work. You have to make a new one.

Appreciate the help.. now if only I knew what the heck you meant =P
|
Anyone feeling generous enough to explain alpha channels to me?
|
Ok, an alpha channel is mask so to say. If you put the transparency at 50%, u can see through the part that u "masked" partly. As you go up in percent masked, the less u can see through it. Look at minefields scopes, he has some that have a darker part on them than others. Thats the alpa channel. <------ Thats the most noobish way i can talk lol, hope it helps ya bro

That would be an excellent explanation if I knew anything. Anyone want to help me out and put this little circle on a compass? =p
