Ok I just set up a personal server and tested all the weapons using the wall marks as a guage for accuracy.

The Garand isn't a quarter as bad as you guys are raving. It hit within a 2 inch space firing from the other side of the block into the next building with controled single shots, and within a third of a meter fast firing (big enough a space to hit a torso).

The mauser is perfection in accuracy, all shots landed right on top of each other.

The Thompson and MP40 were on par, maybe the MP40 a little more inaccurate but it's real difficult to judge.

The BAR is quite a bit more accurate than the Stg 44 when firing of the clip in one burst. Which is obvious considering the rate of fire you get with the Stg 44.

The Colt and Walther are on par, not one shot with either landed in the cross hairs at close range.

And the shotgun, well fire that against a wall and you get an idea why it is so incredibly devestating in close quarters. Even at 10 meters it's pretty fuck off mean.

Im not going to mention the sniper rifle's cause they are both spot on.

But my point is the Garand aint that bad, maybe you were having connection issues when you were having missed shots close in. Cause I sure as shit can't see how else you could miss. The Garand is accurate not as good as the mauser but I wouldn't want a close range fight with the mauser either.

the garand was one of the best guns of the war. the mp40 was more accurate than the tommy because the thompson was a smooth bore. the mauser was a very good rifle.

What's the point of having the unscoped Mauser? It's the same as the sniper one without a scope. I think there is no real point of using the unscoped version when you get the same rifle with a scope.

Unscoped reloads faster. But I do wonder why the scoped and unscoped dont have the same sounds... http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/icons/icon9.gif

When the soldiers on either side in WWII were in combat, the Garand seemed ages ahead of the Mauser as a service rifle. The rifle was so accurate that some U.S. troops designated themselves unofficial snipers and mounted a scope on it. It was not unusual for them to take headshots at over 400 yards. These are not the traits of an inaccurate rifle.

The rifle for the axis, the mauser, is bad to use. NOt a match for the fast shooting garand. how can u use a bolt single shot gun as a standard rifle? isnt it a bit slow compared to the american gun?

FuBarGrn 12-23-2001 11:09 AM

well there is One disadvantage that I have noticed....the allied Garand rifle DOES shoot faster, but you couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with it....however the Kar98 is 10 times more accurate. Also,as to why the mauser is the standard rifle,it was put it because it WAS the standard rifle for german ground troops....shit man I'd trade accuracy over cyclic rate Anyday.............

Sorry but I would kick your ass with a mauser. In the demo the garand is an inaccurate pos.

Ok. I've taken a couple of screenies to show the accuracy of both the mauser and the garand from a distance.

First, here's where I shot the guns from, and I'm hitting the wall right behind the reticle http://members.bellatlantic.net/~tads/gun-position.jpg

Here's the first grouping, with the garand being fired at the same rate as the mauser, which is pretty slow(note-I'm standing about 2 feet from the wall in this pic) http://members.bellatlantic.net/~tads/grouping.jpg

Here's the final grouping, this one with the garand being fired pretty fast(5 rounds in about 2 secs-the pic is also taken about 2 feet from the wall) http://members.bellatlantic.net/~tads/garand-quick.jpg

Each gun was fired 5 times in each test. I think it's safe to say the garand is pretty accurate.
