Capturing sound from a film . . .

I want to use the sound from a rifle in a film to make it for my own use in game. How would I do that?

record the sound save it as a wav file with the same name as the sound you are replacing then pak it so that it is in the same file structure as the orginal soun (Sounds/...) zip that to a user-...pk3 file and add to main folder simple

Can you do that through Windows or do you need a special program. I'm playing the DVD through my DVD-ROM drive on my PC. Thanks.

You should take a program like Total Recorder http://www.highcriteria.com
You can do everything with this program. I use this program when I want to record sounds from my TV. biggrin:

OK, got the sound recorded, when I go into the main folder under sounds all it has is explosions, nothing else. Nothing for rifle, pistol, etc. Do I make my own path or. . .?

All weapon sounds are in the pak#.pk3 file.
