Well it could just be your CD rom drive. Do any other CDs work?

coloradodutchman 01-04-2003 08:33 PM

yes, i do not have any other problems in either of my drives. I changed some of the options in trying to fix MOHAA,but they are working for other games. thanks though.

You could try to firmware update your motherboard's chipset. (basically, update BIOS).

If it's an Intel chipset:

1) go here: [url:5518f]http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts-df/Product_Filter.asp?ProductID=861[/url:5518f] Put in your Operating System and run that file. It will tell you what chip is on the board.

2) Once you have the chip type (Probably i815 - i845, somewhere in there), go here: [url:5518f]http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts-df/Product_Filter.asp?ProductID=816[/url:5518f], insert your Operating System, then choose INF Update Utility .EXE file, not the .ZIP. Run that, then you will have to reboot.

3) Reinstall MOH: http://mohaa.xgshosting.com/joe/installguide.htm

Hope that does something!

Joe thanks for the site, the utility file said i do not have an intel chipset which is strange , I have an Intel pent. III sticker on the case.Is there a non-intel utility I can dwnld to ID my chipset.

I had this error once before when I bought a new CDROM for my server and then tried to install MOHAA from it.

It could be two things:

1) You have a computer virus or a service that is conflicting with the install. (not likely though)

2) Your CDROM isnt compatible. I had this problem with my new CDROM. Only explaination that I can give for the reason is that it was a cheap no name CDROM. I replaced with a Memorex CDROM and it installed beautifully. No problems.

Occassionally CDRW drives don't like commercial CDs; I've got a sony cdrw, and it barfs on some game cds, but not mohaa or mohaa-sh

I think it could be a chipset problem, but it could be the drive, or possibly even the disk. If you can get it installed somewhere else, and don't have problems with your other disks, then I'd say it could be a chipset issue, but make sure you know what your motherboard chipset it before doing any firmware updates otherwise you might cripple your system.

Does it have 2 CD-ROMs or 1? If 2, are you using the CD-RW to try to install the game?
