Installing MOHHA: Could not load OpenGL Subsystem.

I tried installing Mohaa, and spearhead on my cousins CPU, and it fails. In the console it says "Could not load OpenGL Subsystem." I'm going to try the latest drivers for his card. He has a Geforce4 MX 440. His driver version is 2.9.5.8. Could someone tell me who isn't having this prob what driver version you are running? I'm not so sure that it'll work. I've looked around the web and I've found no official solutions to this problem. It seems very comon, but very rarely fixed. His CPU meets the system reqs. by far.

Windows XP
AMD Athlon 700 something megahertz
256 MB of Ram, DDR
GeForce4 MX 440, 64MB
30 Gig HD

I gotta get him set straight. He just bought a whole new CPU because he had a crappy Gateway with on board hardware, which isnt upgradable. He bought the new system so he could play games. I know a good bit about computers, but both of his CPU's are making me look like a total idiot. Someone PLEASE Help me!

99% of the time this is caused by not having your video card's drivers installed. because they where using the stock video card drivers from the OS.

I would try a reinstall on the video drivers following the correct way to remove the drivers. Check out the boards over at http://www.guru3d.com/files/

I used the save version when I had my Ti4600 and did not have a problem. You may also want to check his DirectX version is out but I would stick with the latest 8's until you fix this problem.

Good luck and let us know how you make out.

Thanks Rude dog. I downloaded the newest Version: 41.09 drivers and burnt them on a CD. I'll take them over later today and give that a try. He currently has driver version 2.9.5.8, from July 2001. Sounds like it's the default drivers that came with XP. I hope this works, as I've seen a lot of people suffering from this problem and found no definite solutions. If anyone else reading this topic has the same problem, here is a compiled list of possible ways to correct this. I looked on the web for around 5 hours, so you probably won't find any other possible solutions.

1. Install latest drivers

2. Start, Run, type win.ini
Find a string of text called DVA=0 and place a semi colon directly in front of it to comment it out. ;DVA=0

3. Copy the files opengl32.dll and opengl32.lib and paste them in your MOHAA folder.

4. Try removing the file opengl32.dll

5. Find and remove the file 3dfxgl.dll

6. Start, Run, type Dxdiag. Run the tests.

Those are not in any specific order.

Thanks again Rude Dog, hope it works!

Nah, I couldn't think of another solution, as this one always worked for myself.

Could not open OpenGL SubSystem = either bad/corrupt OpenGL drivers, or the files are (like Rude said) the ones that shipped with the OS. XP has this as their biggest issue. Just upgrade, and let us know how it turned out.

Well It worked, the latest drivers solved the problem, but not before I had to completely reinstall windows XP due to an unrelated problem. Finally, that nightmare is over lol. Thanks everyone for your suggestions and help. I sincerely appreciate it!
