Dual Booting ???

Does anyone have a system where they dual boot, i'm interesting in having linux installed but also want to keep my XP, just curious on linux that's all, has anyone installed linux themselves and done a dual boot, how hard is it to do. oOo:
Just wondering if anyone had troubles dual booting or was it easy as hell

i just hit delete on boot up to get me into the BIOS when i start up and then choose what area to launch from. this may not answer your question, but in my case have two hard drives and boot up with 98 from one and xp pro from the other.

You can install XP on one hard disk, and Linux on the other.

I know what it is..just wondering if it's very difficult to do ?

Bazooka_Joe 01-14-2003 03:53 PM

Not really. I've done it on a few work PC's.

Follow this, just substitute Win9X for Linux

There's also a fairly easy guide about it in the latest CGW.

Go to the link at the bottom, look for the multi boot link. He does
a good job of explaining everthing and has a lot of pictures to go with
it. Hope this helps.

I use system commander and xp is loaded first then linux. It works really well. I've had it on my system for about a year.

Thanks guys, I got a copy of Partition Magic, which from what I read does the same thing as System Commander, makes a partition already for the linux to be installed....just a little worried i'm going to fuck up the install and fuck up the computer..LMAO...oh well...live and learn i guess....lol..thanks guys
