Might need an operation on my leg :(

Seems years of being a goalkeeper and diving onto even concrete (yes concrete) have taken its toll on my right knee. Was at the doctors today and according to him the cartlidge is badly worn in it.

Not suprising really, most of the time i played football it was indoors on a hard surface so my knees got pretty banged up over the period of 5-6 years. Only reason i went to the doctor at all was my left knee gave out on me the other day when i was taking a run, better knowing about it i suppose hake:

That must hurt well good luck with the operation. Hope they dont cause that much pain but most likely they will.

Its not definate that i need it though, ive been running a bit lately to shift some weight but it seems to have aggitated the knee. Just gonna push it a lot and see what comes of it.

That happened to my brother kinda. He had a football scollarship to UCLA but he plays hockey to and some guy did a Knee to knee and he tore his knee apart and lost his scollarship, but he is smart so he went to university instead.

Getting the cartlitdge removed from your knee is routine surgery, so have no worries, d00d. Alot of athletics get it taken out from hitting their knees up alot. Most of my friends who played football had to get it removed before it turned to scarred tissue.

heh, trust me man, it's as bad as. . .getting a shot, really. It's almost that routine.

be sure to tell them that if they fuck up on the anesthetic and you're awake during surgery that they'll be extremely sorry about it, in hell biggrin: M16: M16: M16:

I had that happen at the dentist once mad: They gave me the shot to numb my mouth, and about 15 minutes into their work I could feel the drill, I yelled "Jesus christ, what the hell is this the middle-ages" needless to say they gave me another shot and I did'nt feel a thing.

that's different, what I'm talking about is when they give you the muscle relaxant and forget the knockout/no pain stuff, that way you can feel everything they do but you can't move anything, including your mouth

My dad had the same operation you will. The doctors do it by putting a tiny camera in your knee

Miscguy 01-22-2003 03:35 PM

Bah, i joined the Army with doctors saying that i shouldnt run anymore because of the damage i';d done running. I went to physical therapy for about a week before that shit got old. I kept running, with some of my fastest times ever i might add. Then joined up with the Army.

Well appairently that damn doctor was right. Strap any extra weight to my frame and walk and it speeds up the whole process of ripping my knees apart. Well strap on that weight and speed walk for 12 miles. Looking back on the stuff i did to it im kinda surprized my right knee (the worse of the two) lasted so long. Granted it eventually failed completly.

I know your pain Gerald.

Thats nothing. I woke up while getting my wisdom teeth removed. Right in the middle of the damn process. Your straped into the chair so you cant move, plus your still fucking grogy, but i was awake. I made some grunts or they saw me trying to kick my feet, next thing i know the doctor says "nurse give him 10 more of (some drug)" and im back out like a light. That was some painful shit.
