yeah that's where i had that problem, when i sniped a guy by shooting across the burning flak88 the frames per second drop ridiculously.

I run a AMD Athlon XP 1600+ with 512MB ram and Hercules 3D prophet. Obviously something in my drivers is wrong or something cause people with 128 MB ram and a 1 gig P. get better FPS then me, and they run in same res.

I got all the detail cranked to max and res. is 1024x768, and it runs pretty much like a dream (or a nightmare for whoever is on the other side of my thompson) however as soon as I shoot smoke emits and my FPS drops into the red, I tried putting detail down to medium in effects but it doesn't seem to help, I don't have volumetric smoke on. Does the effects setting affect the smoke and why does it slow me down that much, does any1 else have problems with it??

Anyway, the SP demo just finished and I'm off to play it!

Yeah whenever im by the guns smoking i get lagged all of a sudden, but when i get away from them a bit it runs so smooth

If you have Trilinear enabled try setting it to Bilinear...dunno if it will help...

The smoke by the flak88 you run into in the beginning of the level will slow down any computer. That's fixed in the final game.

It prooves the weirdness of the FPS counter, according to it I had 73 FPS when lookin into the smoke, however when I passed it, and everything ran with like 80fps I think, the counter said I had 13FPS, and I know what 13FPS is because I ran a 355mhz 64MB ram, ATI rage 128 pro, I got 13 fps in bloody half life, talk about low end :

My biggest fps killer is the area just after you kill the tank, I usually run up to the 2nd story to man one of the MG42's. As soon as I hit the 2nd floor BOOM im chugging with the very best of them, the rest of the game runs fine though.
