Cool http://www.pcgamers.net/ubb/wink.gif Do we get access to the control panel too? I'm assuming this is a UBB, since it looks a lot like the one at Quake3World. That it says "Ultimate Bulletin Board Version 5.45b" at the bottom is another big clue http://www.pcgamers.net/ubb/wink.gif.

BadScript 03-02-2001 06:11 AM

Yep we're using a seriously outdated version of UBB, and unfortunately for this version there isn't a whole lot Mods can do besides the admin options at the bottom of the page. One version up (5.45c Quakeworld's using that) and you guys would have a few more toys. Now it's at 5.49e.

I can wait for PCGAMERS to update their ubb, which I seriously doubt they will cause I know the license expired http://www.pcgamers.net/ubb/smile.gif or I could go with phpBB which is blazingly fast running on mysql. It's already installed on alliedassault.com, but I don't know if I should get everyone registered to register again and suffer post lostage...

All I can do at gen disc q3w is change posts / topics and delete / move threads, with a few pruning options I don't dare touch. There've been one or two malicious posts that broke UBB though and could only be fixed through the control panel, and that's why I asked http://www.pcgamers.net/ubb/smile.gif

BadScript: I heard WWWThread (not WWWBoard) is even better than phpBB? I can find a download link if you want, I think it's GNU so it's free.

BadScript 03-04-2001 02:01 AM

I've actually played around with wwwthread, ultraboard (the old version when it was free). I found (solely my opinion) ultraboard to be more or less a UBB clone.

I agree WWWthread is the best board around, and yes it's free. But it's such a pain in the ass to install, and although it's not user-hostile it's not user-friendly either. If I do decide to switch to another board, expect it to be phpBB http://www.pcgamers.net/ubb/smile.gif

You can try Ultraboard too.

http://www.wwwthreads.com/

Doesn't look like wwwthreads is free
anymore... It's now available in perl or php though, bet it's easier to install now http://www.pcgamers.net/ubb/smile.gif
