Hosting through a router

I know this question has been asked a hundred times, but no-one seems to know the correct answers.

I have a Linksys router and would like to host MOH (again!!) but i forgot the correct ports to open. My settings now enable people to find my server and join, only to get booted after about a minute. When the game 1st came out, i had the same problem but figured out which port corrected this problem but i since forgot the fix.

So, what i need to know (from router hosting people) are the port #'s and if i enable TCP or UDP for each one.

(i made this a poll so it stays at the top for 8 days)

put it in the DMZ. that should allow people to be able to join with out ports. that is How I hosted I didn't have to open ports, just put the ip of my host computer in the DMZ

Linksys

I have a Linksys 4 port router and you CANNOT host a server with it. I have opened up the ports specified, that didnt work. I created a DMZ host, that didnt work either. They can get through and get on, but after a minute they get the boot. That always happens with the Linksys.

I'd believe this. Rudedog and myself went through hell to try to get me to host a BF1942 game, even with DMZ enabled. Rude, I'm actually beginning to wonder if the WinXP Firewall had something to do with it.

*bump* (SMTP error) hake:

possible, I have also noticed that linksys routes with old firmware will lock up EVERY day. Make sure you have the latest and greatest firmware for your router.

When Joe and I tried BF1942, my box was wide open ( without router ) on one of my public segments of my network and we still had problems. Never took the time to figure that one out.

Placing MOH in the DMZ opens every port. so in theory this should work without incident.

Try checking your console to see what error messages are being left.
