Sound issues for spearhead... help!
 
My spearhead ran normally and without problems untill I recently got my computer back from the shop which was upgrading my cd burner...for some reason I can't hear the shots for any of the unique british and russian weapons (ie their unique rifles + smgs) i look in the console and it says error loading uber sound blah blah blah please fix! how do i fix it? I tried reinstalling the game all that got me was having to dl the patch again...

Yeah I have that same issue, updated my sound driver and everything. So far I haven't had any helpful advice. mad:

im thinking its something to do with this new gamespy update or whatever aparently gs and ea are scanning all mohaa and mohaas players for their cd keys before they join a server, its making it twice as long to connect to a server aparently and i wouldnt be suprised if that is also messing that up too...because the sound for none of the new waepons is working for me anymore and they all worked fine last weekend!

ok ive had this problem before, ok take all the custom skins and maps etc. out of the spearhead "mainta" folder and put them in the allied assault main folder instead this should make your sound work again all you need in "mainta" is the original files (pak1, pak2 etc.)

I think this is the 5th time I've posted this...could be made a Sticky if it keep going like this...heh heh.

Anyway...

I have a SoundBlaster Live! and I had the same problem. Here's something to try if you have the same card:

1.Go to Programs, Creative, Audio HQ, Sound Font.

2.Select the third tab, Options. You can allocate a little less than half of your system RAM to the sound font cache.


This helps, but does not cure the sound dropping out.

I would like to know if the "new" patch will finally solve the sound dropping out. The sound dropping has little to do with mods that you may have installed, but more to do with how the program is written. I keep my finger crossed that the new patch will solve the sound dropping and but sliding issues. Also, the only good use of sv_pure is for matches and tournaments. There are other measures available (from the modding community) to keep a tab on cheating.

I figured out what the sound problem was, a map i downloaded was only for mohaa and was incompatible with spearhead sounds and stuff and i guess it messed up my whole game, when i took it out everything worked fine!

Yes, the map "Das Boot" was reported to conflict with Spearhead. Even with that map removed, the sound will occasionally drop out. I have noticed that as the game has more scripted events occurring, (as the action gets more intense) the sound of the weapons begin to drop out. Some of it could be related to my pc (1 g PIII) and exisiting sound card (SBLive Value).

Hey Joe, Is EA going to fix the sound issue with the next patch ?? Or is the new patch only about sv_pure ??

Dunno man. I'm just hoping it's the reason it hasen't been released yet, is because they're working on other bugs. As far as I know, there IS a patch that is going to eventually come out, and as far as I know, they're working to fix SV_PURE, some memory leaks, performance issues on TOW maps, and a glitch dealing with landsharking. As for anything else, dunno.

I think for me the issue is just my sound card (few years old, YAMAHA DS-XG). It just seems odd that most sounds will work, and only a few weapons don't.
