i was looking at new systems online and came up with a few here, i was wondering if these are worth the money and which one is best price/badass ratio

Sergeant_Scrotum 02-26-2003 06:29 AM

a $900 sound system?! ed:

Sergeant_Scrotum 02-26-2003 06:31 AM

(damn edit button) never mind i read that wrong)

Bazooka_Joe 02-26-2003 10:36 AM

The fourth one. The first three come with ATA-133 RAID controllers, but all have an ATA-100 HD, so your basically getting an ATA-133 connector for nothing.

cameltoe 02-26-2003 08:22 PM

thanks joe. one more thing, whats oem stand for?

Cpt. Obvious 02-26-2003 09:06 PM

The Voodoo Monsoon is the best gaming computer out there but it has a price tag of $4000 dollars. Save Up

OEM = Original Equipment Manufacturer

cameltoe 02-26-2003 09:52 PM

Chango 02-26-2003 10:04 PM

It means a number of things.

1) Standalone part - no original package, Warranty papers, instructions, cables, drivers etc.

2) Has downgraded parts, meaning lower performance.

Try never to buy OEM.

Old Reliable 02-26-2003 11:44 PM

there is nothing wrong with OEM

cameltoe 02-27-2003 12:36 AM

yea i was wondering why the things came so cheap.. hmm i think ill see how much it would cost to buy a similar system with individual parts

NOT ALWAYS TRUE. OEM parts can be the same spec as retail parts. You've got to be smart about it and know what to look for. Also, I dunno how big a difference there is between ATA100 and ATA133. That Mobo comes with a SerialATA controller, meaning eventually you could run Serial ATA (much faster than ATA133) without any changes.

cameltoe 02-28-2003 12:00 AM

oh ur Bleuachdu! man i just know you by the guy with the freaky ass sig
