Iraq: U.S.-U.K. Raid Kills Six Civilians in Basra
(Reuters) - Iraq said on Monday that U.S. and British warplanes killed six civilians and wounded another 15 in raids on Basra, but Washington said the jets struck military targets after coming under anti-aircraft fire. An Iraqi military spokesman said the planes patrolling a "no-fly" zone in the south of the country entered Iraqi airspace at 9:45 p.m. (1845 GMT) on Sunday and later targeted civilian sites in the province of Basra.

I wouldnt be surprised if it hit civilians. Saddam places his anti aircraft installations in civilian areas in hopes that 1 - the US wont shoot at them and 2 - if we do shoot at them, he can claim we killed civilians. He's a real sweet heart like that. His people always come first. oOo:

Basically, a war with Iraq is assured. There's no denying that. It will hopefully be quick and decisive with minimal military (Allied ofcourse) and civilian casualties. I think the main focus now for every nation in and around Asia, NATO and the UN should be North Korea. Watching a news program here just now, I got shivers up my back just thinking about the future. It seems a new Cold War is inevitable. If N. Korea threatens Japan, Japan will go nuclear. It will return us basically into the period of the 50's to the 80's. Alot of countries in and around Asia will soon have to very carefully rethink their current strategies and future plans for Defence. Iraq is nothing but an annoyance compared to N. Korea.

Sadaam is just as much a threat as NK. They have chemical missle, NK is developing nukes. I also think so much is goingagainst Iraq because of a family grudge with the Bush/Sadaam thing.

Dont get me wrong, I think Iraq is a problem. Any rogue nation (and Iraq IS a rogue nation) that has the will and the way for producing chemical and the real bitch...biological weapons is a serious threat. Iraq IS a serious threat as far as production and selling off of chem/bio weapons goes. You cannot deny that. The choice to go wtih Iraq is pretty much a wise choice (at the moment). NK. hasnt really done anything of serious threat yet, but just the fact that NK. is starting to flex it's arrogant muscles again does warrant closer inspection by NATO/UN and the US. Iraq is just ONE waypoint on a journey to ridding the world of dangerous men. The scary thing is, NK. seem to think the US will attack them after they are done with Iraq....stupid bastards. I dont think even the US is dumb enough to start shit with NK. at this point in time. I'm all for "diplomatic solutions" with NK. A military engagement with NK. could very well spell doom for us all.
