Numpad in Spearhead

I know there have been various topics on this subject, but I still have not found a solution to my problem. What is the problem? I can't use the numpad in Spearhead. That is, not in the same fashion as in MoHAA.

Example: In MoHAA my configuration looks like this:

Numpad = Function:

8/uparrow = move forward
7/Home = lean left
4/leftarrow = move left
5 = move backward

If I go to the control options in MoHAA, for example pressing numpad 5 results in showing "numpad 5" in the box. In Spearhead, pressing numpad 5 results in...nothing. It seems Spearhead recognizes the numpad keys' secondary function instead of its primary function.

Here's what I have tried so far:

- Binding the keys from the console
- Using MoHAA's unnamedsoldier.cfg in Spearhead
- Switching between keyboard configurations (US/US-International) in the Control Panel
- Numlock On/Off

What I have not tried (yet): Uninstalling Spearhead, remove all Spearhead stuff from the registry, change the keyboard lay-out to US (during last install the lay-out was US-International, as it was when I installed MoHAA), re-install Spearhead.

I don't think re-installing Spearhead will help. But I'll probably try it if no solution comes up.

I know more people are having this problem. Who knows what to do to make it work?

Thanks (I hope).

I think you should reinstall the game fully, both Spearhead and AA, and make sure the keyboard is on US and not international, and try again. This might fix it.

No go

I uninstalled everything MoHAA and changed the keyboard configuration to US.

I rebooted, removed everything related to MoHAA from the registry, and reinstalled MoHAA and Spearhead.

It did not help. I think I will have to live with it.

Strange thing though: My roommate has the exact same keyboard and mouse as I do, and on his computer it works perfectly. He also has Windows XP. Without SP1, maybe that could be it. I don't know. I give up.

you can go to the EA web site go to the MOHAA section of it and see if you can find the tech suport link an send them the problem they will normaly e-mail you in 48 hours

I will try that. Only problem is: Although I bought MoHAA, I downloaded Spearhead because I didn't think it was worth the money.

I don;t think they will provide me with any help if I am not a registered owner?

Good call. I wouldn't ask them for help if you have an illegal copy . You prolly wouldn't get much response anyway.

Did it anyway

I sent a message to EA just yet. Didn't have to fill in my serial, registration number/account or anything. Just email address.

Will be notified in 24 hours. They said.

I'll see what happens. I'll post the solution (if I get one).

Otherwise, maybe it will be included in the next expansion pack... oOo:

I received some support from EA. Within 24 hours!

I sent pretty much the same message as my first post in this thread, and this info was definitely in it:

Here's the reply from EA:

Hello,

Have you considered the NUMLOCK?

Try doing this with the NUMLOCK key in the ON position.

Thanks.

What the fuck is this? Some intern aswering my questions? I know I don''t have any right to complain, since I'haven't bought Spearhead, but still. EA doesn't know that, do they.

Screw EA. Glad I didn't buy Spearhead. Their support sucks. But we already know that.

That's about the only answer you would get..Registered or not.

They've given me lame responces like this before. Send another message, stating that you tried all above, and you need a better responce.

I took your advice Joe, and I sent another email. In reply, they asked me to send dxdiag.txt, which I did. The replied the following:

If the game still will not run, unfortunately, I have no further suggestions for you at this time. We have exhausted all of the standard troubleshooting which can be done remotely, and at this point the game should be running properly but is not. This could be due to a hardware incompatibility, which we are not aware of, or simply a problem that was overlooked due to the nature of this correspondence. If you continue to troubleshoot your machine on your own and solve the problem, please drop us a line. If you would like to return the game for a shrink wrapped copy which you can return to the place of purchase, please send the entire game contents along with a copy of your original receipt to the address below:
