I see they removed the butt-scooting thing. Isn't that the reason most players hate SH?

Besides slow performance for the maps... (and maybe, secretly, that they can't lean-strafe? biggrin: )

I gotta say that really fills me full of confidence, the "buttscoot SHOULD be removed". While theyre at it they shoulda removed that damn culling system as well, i so love it when a sniper is partially behind a fucking fence and because of that the culling system assumes hes behind a wall hence i shouldn't be able to see him so it doesn't draw the character model.

While they were at it they coulda made the new sniper rifles someway useful to use, i dont like having to fire 2 shots with an svt 40 or a g-43 to do the same job a springfield does in 1 shot.

Some new weapons woulda been nice to fix the sides properly, give the brits the scoped enfield and the bren gun to make their weapon selection a bit more authentic and give the russians their proper weapons, then again this is ea im sure those new "features" will be added in an expansion will which further bollocks up spearhead. oOo:

Gerard, didn't you see this line as being one of the fixes in that .txt file?

-Bad player popping through fence textures

Yes textures not models, its not a matter of them clipping through fences they also disappear when partially behind boxes and shit like that. Its a certaintyy the "culling" system still has the same flaws as the previous patch.

MPowell1944 03-13-2003 12:36 PM

I always thought it was the manvis they used in the maps.

Nope its the culling system, what u dont see the engine doesn;t draw, however whatever genius coded it obviously made it think that crates with gaps and barbed wire fences etc are solid objects, so when you should be able to see a part of someone through a hole or whatever u cant because as far as the engine is concerned theyre outta your sight so the model isn;t being drawn.

And as for the butt slide, it is seemingly gone but i couldn;t help but notice players now seem to stand and slide a bit when hit. oOo:
