Hello lads.
I am about to upgrade my video card. (pretty much for this game) I found an ATI RADEON 7200 New. For about $220 and a Geforce3 Ti200 for $390(Thats Australian) Now which one will serve this game better? My MX400, gives really crappy frame rates when it is "busy", the game that is. All the new VC's have texture enhancing stuff, but what is the difference between ATI's and Nvidia's? Does anyone know whether the 7200 will be a worthy upgrade with my current specs? This is how ot stands at the moment. ATI = Charisma engine. Nvidia = NfinitFX ot something Which one? I was leaning toward the ATI due to its DVD playback, although I still need fast ass frame rates. As for the comparison between RTCW and MOH.....The idea of comparison is as stupid as RTCW itself. IMHO Thanks in advance ------------------ 1.2Athlon Geforce2MX400 Sblive 5.1 + DTT2200 256mb DDR NEC 21" Monitor |
Yar getting it all wrong.
You don't get the Geforce 3 Ti 500 You get the Geforce 3 Ti 200 The ti 200 is 100-150 bucks less than the Geforce 3 Ti 500 At only 10-15% less performance Only get the 500 if you want the of the best so if you're rich |
No i know that.
I am not even looking at the Ti500. I need to know whether to get the ATI 7200, or a Geforce3 Ti 200. Which one will serve the game better? I like to watch DVD's from the PC as well. That is the only reason i thought about getting the RADEON. But i want fast frame rates too. So i was thinking GF3 |

Get the Geforce 3 Ti 200.
Also, you said the Radeon 7200? The only card that can compete with geforce 3 ti 200's and 500's is the Radeon 8500 [very new, pretty expensive]. I would still go with nvidia. They work great with Quake III powered games especially. |
Thanks Manny.
What about DVD playback? I use PowerDVD XP, and just recently found a copy of WINDVD in a drawer. WINDVD seems to be better picture (Girlfriend reckons) although lacks the functions of PDVD. Will the Geforce 3 improve DVD playback? |
I'm not sure.

Go for a Radeon 8500. Best bang for the buck at the moment.

Go the nvidia route, I'm hoping ATI drops the prices on the 8500, till then I doubt anyone should opt for the ATI, can't lose with nvidia! Geforce 3 TI200=best bang for your buck, oh and overclock it a bit!

I surely would bye the Radeon card (especially the 8500) Its a cool card. I too have F.... mx 400 (DAMN! the worst deal I've ever made!!!)

Im looking me too on this. My choice is GeForce 3 Ti-200 cause ive learned a lot of thing and read lot of news about the radeon vs the ti-200 and and just take a lok at the prices. Ive been at Future Shop, they sell the Radeon for $450 ( Canadian ) and the ti-200 i got, i paied $333 ( Canadian ). And they have the same performance.
The Radeon is better in Direct 3D but the GeForce is better in Open GL and the GeForce is pretty stable compared to the ATI So my choice : GEFORCE RULEZ Hope i helped u ------------------ Thomp. http://revolutionqc.multimania.com/Tag.jpg My clan Website |
