In the SP Demo--why do they use a German name for the "bazooka" when you're an American squad?

Will this be changed in the game-itself?

American Name: Bazooka
Modified German: Panzerfaust

Bazooka is not german.

??? So, if you're in an American squad role--why don't they call it bazooka? I don't think the GI's used Panzerfaust.

When I'm in the role of an American soldier and that voice says, "use the Panzerfaust" does not gel.

Well Instead of the rocket launchers, use rifles, do you think the americans would say use the m-1 even though it was a 98k?

Weapons can be captured during a war, that's why.

It's not a panzerfaust, it's the much more powerful Panzerschreck (which means Tank Terro'r)
it fires an 88mm shell, compared to the Panzerfaust's 44mm, which means yes, you COULD kill a Royal Tiger with it.

So, why didn't they name it a bazooka? Or what ever the correct AMERICAN nomenclature is?

Ramza 01-08-2002 07:55 AM

Because they want to be historically accurate. It's a Panzerschreck, a powerful German rip off of the Bazooka.

Also, this may seem obvious, but I just thought I'd mention that the Panzerfaust was much more common, and was easier to user by the untrained old men and boys they had fighting at the front lines, being a disposable one shot one kill weapon.

I don't think Panzerschrecks were very common from late 1944 till the end of the war, as they probably couldn't build the complex electrical firing system, and afford to train people to use such a complicated device.
