A question about letters

Hey guys, In the last few sigs that I have made the letters look all jagged around the edges. I don't think I've changed any settings so wassup with that? (note that even though I'm an old coot I use groovy phrases like wassup biggrin: ) Do I need to change the number of pixels per inch or something like that? All I know is that this problem is chapping my arse! I can't get my letters to look worth a crap. Dagnabit!

I always use 72dpi resolution.

When I'm placing text on the image, I make sure that I have the Anti-Alias set to "Smooth" (this is Photoshop 5.5, mind you...will be different in other graphics apps).

I really don't do anything other than that.

Thanks Zoner, I'll check on that. I'm using 72 dpi. I know the anti-aliasing button appears when I use the lasso. I'll check to see if it comes up with the move tool. It could be that when I move the letters around I don't have that option checked and the move is messing them up.

The move wouldn't be messing it up. Make sure the anti-aliasing is on when you actually make the text.

Thanks guys, that was the problem. In Photoshop Elements the anti-aliasing button is a tiny little button with "aa" on it. I guess I must have clicked it by accident. Thanks. Check this lettering out....better?
