It's funny, my dad and I were talking about monopolies yesterday, and how the economy works around it, just like a recession. Now I know Microsoft is not a monopoly, but pretty much the next best thing. I say that if a company is able to come out with a better product, and most importantly a product that will satisfy the needs of what the people want, then that company should be able to garner some competition. Too bad our U.S. government screws businesses in the ass by regulating EVERYTHING that business has to do in order to open up operations.

Anyway that was off-topic but my point is with this "Palladium" I believe it is against the law and I'll tell you why. According to this editorial--and that's all it is, not a news story, Palladium makes it so it cancels out all programs trying to be read by a non-Palladium machine. This is blocking any other company for its programs to run on its machines. Also with Palladium only Palladium machines can talk to other Palladium machines, leaving Everything else out in the dust as far as communicatino is concerned.

If this Palladium was implemented, it would kinda be similar to the Nazi invasion of Europe. Sounds against the law to me. I think this whole story is bollocks, as the Brits put it. It's too bad to be true.

Its either a fake or Microsoft is taking control over us. LEts jsut hope its a fake. oOo:

The missing element here is that the consumer would have to buy into the conspiracy. Kind of like the original idea behind divx. The video companies were trying to make all movies rentals as a type of pay-per-view. There was no purchasing of movies. They wanted you to pay every time you watched a movie. Consumers said HELL NO and the idea faded into obscurity. Micobitch tries to cram this down our throat and linux will boom, alternative OSes will flood the market, hardware wont sell and times will change. I guess Microbitch is feeling a little cocky after their anti-trust victory. And the editorial is a bit on the gloom and doom side.

Always have the option of NOT BUYING it. Or in most of your cases, warezing it.

And yes, as "smart" as Microsoft techs think they are, there are legions of young programmers just waiting for the chance to send these "fixes" straight to hell.

Ahhh......the irony in warezing an anti warez progam......that would be sweet.
