the guy who played Col. Sink in Band of Brothers did a full career in the Marines and was technical advisor on Platoon, SPR and BOB. Here is a link to a piece he wrote about what it was like as a grunt in WWII

Pretty good article. Didn't he make an appearance in SPR? He looks like one of the officers that was in it.

You might be thinking of the guy who played his CO in the beach scene (a Lt. Col. I think), who he reports to about the mine field and 88 guns.
That guy plays a lot of cops on TV shows and had been a real homicide detective in Chicago before he became an actor. |

Great in Get Shorty and Out of Sight. I believe the thread starter is talkign about Capt. Dale Dye, who has been in numerous movies/TV shows, and always as some form of military guy. Here is his credits for movies, SPR is not one of them. http://movies.yahoo.com/shop?d=hc&cf...149851&intl=us [This message has been edited by divisionbell77 (edited January 17, 2002).] |
Following the links there, there is a nice overview of what happened in WW2... http://search.ebi.eb.com/ebi/article...,38344,00.html

yes, Dale Dye is the guy who wrote the article, not the former cop who played Tom Hanks superior officer. They happen to have a similar look though

Actually Cpt. Dale Dye has been the combat technical advisor on several films and books. Including Saving Private Ryan, Band of Brothers, Platoon; and he is the voice in the opening video for MOHAA!!! He has also been in several movies including Band of Brothers as Colonel Sink.
The Lieutenant in SPR in Dennis Farina, who played Lt. Colonel Anderson. He has also recenlty been in Snatch, Out of Sight and Reindeer games. They look the same though! Thought I would add in my film knowledge. ------------------ http://home.earthlink.net/~saltybeef/tag.jpg 'The Saltiest baby, The Saltiest'. |
Wasn't he also a technical advisor for this game? (Besides the opening voice mentioned above.)

Yes, but he was also in SPR!
He was in one scene, in the General's office. He said, "...we've got troops scattered all over Normandy, he's probably KIA, and if we send someone to find him, they'll be KIA too...", well something like that. |
Watch out! another American....

I thought I saw him in there... http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/smile.gif

|

But as if you didn't know that |
