Spielberg and Hanks to make Band of Brothers movie as well?

Looks like they are also considering following up on the characters from the original mini-series as they head to the Pacific Theater. Let's hope this happens because it will likely involve the original actors. This adds the the previous scoop about the new mini-series.

[quote:9d10b]Not only will Spielberg and Hanks be developing a Band of Brothers 2, but they will also be working on another war movie. It stars the same actors and will more than likely have most of the same crew. The story is that the "brothers" in the TV series go to the Pacific to fight in the war, and then the movie will come out during the series or right after and our brothers from another mother will be going to Iwo Jima to finally finish it all off.

This news is GRAND. I can't wait for this stuff!

I think Spielberg should make a movie or a miniseries about the eastern front. Afterall, the Soviets were credited with destroying 85% of the German forces (they paid a very high price for it though).

Probably too scared he'll be called a Commie.

That would be fucking cool though. I really enjoyed Stalingrad, Cross Of Iron and Enemy At The Gates....

so wait, THE ORIGINAL CAST (Easy Co. 506th Para Inf.) are being sent to the Pacific?

methinks Spielberg is a revisionist historian.

I hope it means same actors, not characters, because the same group of guys fighting the "badguys" all across the world sounds like "GI Joe" cartoons, not a realistic WWII film.

yeah, too many conservative religious fools think the Cold War is still on

(and I'll bet they would rather have seen the US fight with the krauts against the soviets hake: )

I dont think many from europe were sent to the pacific. Mainly because of their branch of service. I am sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but europe was mostly army and the pacific was navy and marines.

there were plans to send troops over for invasion of mainland Japan, however we need to remember some dates here:

European war ended on May 8, 1945,
Okinawa invasion (the last battle of the Pacific) started on April 1, 1945 and ended in early July, 1945.
In Band Of Brothers Easy Company stormed Berhtesgarten (sp?) that operation was carried out in April (as far as I recall), so they were still in action in Europe when the last battle of the Pacific war started

Yes plans were to send some of the troops over to the Pacific, but in the time it took to get everything planned the Japanese had surrendered. But it is possible that some volunteers were transferred there.
