How can you put password on and off the server?

One way would be to use rcon commands (rcon setpassword AaBbCcDc)

I use Spearhead Runner (mohadmin.com) to configure my dedicated server, and it has fields to set both the recon and private passwords.

To set the private password to enter a password protected server start the game. Press the ~ key to bring up the game console and type setpassword AaBbCcDd

Now go join that game

i type both those in to make my server pwed, or else it dont work for me.

You want to know how to remove the rcon password. Type ~ then type rcon setpassword "enter". Peeps will get your server.

to get password off, type

rcon password ""
rcon set sv_privatepassword ""
