*error* Max_Surface_verts
ok, blah blah blah map noob....
i try to compile a "SIMPLE" map with a ladder and the ambientlight 60 60 60 , not sure if that matters and when i compile i get *****ERROR****** MAX_SURFACE_VERTS WTF? there is only a ladder.....and a few blocks.... here are the pictures, and no it's not going to be that color it's just bright so u can see as you can see there isn't much to the map...what am i doing wrong? thanx |
Take out all the custome PK3 from ur main an mainta folders
|
the ladder is too long. a brush can only have a certain amount of verts. each of the rungs has 4 verts [all the verts on the end face] touching the vertical bars. all those rungs touching the vertical one, each adding 4 verts to its total vert count is causing the error
select both the vertical bars, and clip them into 5 or 6 pieces [hold shift when you press enter to keep both sides of the clip]. this happens with horizontal rails aswell as ladders, or anything else where one long brush has a lot of others touching it |
lol, i think i understand, oOo: again iam a complete map noob.....you want me to break the rail into pieces?? do the pieces touch? iam sorry i tried to follow a ladder tutorial and i thought i did it right LOL thanx

ok, i took some of the rungs out, now it's saying that the step was blocked by a object when i try to get on it..

theres a thread on tmt about the same thing, look at the attatchment in my first post to see what i mean about this is what i mean about cutting the side rails up tho. but you can have more than 3 rungs touching each piece. for a ladder that size, you might need to cut each rail into 7-10 pieces, have about 8 rungs touching each one. hake: not working, i mean i don't get the Max_vert error.........but the ladder doesn't work :'(
|
Did you make sure you did the same with the Ladder Texture as well? And if so, make sure you also, made the degrees correct. If you are not sure what degree you should use, use the player spawn arrow as a guide.

i think i figured it out, the bottom rung was hitting the ground..
