During the past few days some of the TYS Members were having a problem with there computers restarting for no apparent reason.
It has come to the attention of Microsoft that there is a worm that infects computers taking over there RPC Protocol. Enabling there infected PC to reboot over and over. Gotta love the instructions: f you are unsure whether a product you are running is affected by this issue, check the version. To determine which version of Microsoft Windows you are running: 1. On the taskbar at the bottom of your screen, click Start, and then click Run. 2. In the Run dialog box, type winver 3. Click OK. A dialog box displays the version that you are running. Well fucking duuuh, jesus even office workers that are virtually pc illiterate are bound to have noticed the bootup screens saying xp or 2000. Fuck my grannys dead 2 years and she could tell the difference between 98 and 2k. oOo: BTW first person pming me asking durr do u know what windows i have gets banned, morons like you shouldn't be allowed near a pc. oOo: |
If no problem..
If you updated your security patches for Windows. You will not need to download anything other then an update for your Antivirus Software.
I have also learned that the worm doesn't go through firewalls that are enabled with maximum security. Richard Winters http://www.teamtys.com |
We had a problem this entire morning that was pissing me off:
People whee I work were unable to access MSN.COM, Microsoft.com, and hotmail.com. We originally thought that MS was down, then we thought they were affected by the virus. We then realized our provider was hit by this bug, and one of their DNS servers was hit by the bug. hake: The weird part was every other website worked. |
well....
Microsoft put out an update for this glitch over 3 weeks ago. They knew there was a problem on there end and fixed it. For the ones who are knowledgeable about Computers. They find time to make sure there PC's are working correctly. They also find time to visit the appropriate sites to update there OS, antivirus, firewall... ect ect software.
Maybe one day Windows will be like Linux or OSx. Reliable... But I suppose if there were no updates. There would be no problems. It would be an almost perfect world. ha Richard Winters http://www.teamtys.com New Jersey USA |
^^So you are saying that linux with its open source code isnt vulnerable to hacks, but MS is, mainly thru a bug that took three + years to find?
I think maybe linux hasnt been hacked because the hackers have choosen to leave it alone, not because it isnt vulnerable. Just a thought. |
true...
I just think Hackers leave it alone because Windows is the BIG BAD MAN....
Linux is just a not as juicy as Windows. Windows is the biggest apple @ the top of the tree. Juicy, sweet and blocking the sunlight..lol Winters |
