Apache

Anyone have any examples of .htaccess files used in conjuction with htpasswd? I've read quite a bit on the web about the Directives etc., but I can't get anything to work.

Believe it or not, the actual Apache HTTP webpage has a huge tutorial for using it, and one of the sections covers all of the functionality of .htaccess.

thanks, the goal of what I'm trying to do is password protect a directory, but have the directory be read/executable (it inside Cgi-bin). Probably could do it with permissions, but I would prefer some type of authentication.

Yeah, that's defineatly a cgi based script your looking for. You mean when they click on the folder that has security on it, you want one of those popup boxes requesting to add a username/password?

yes, which is done via .htaccess in conjunction with htpasswd.
