Playing MOHAA on a network...
I recently moved to college, and when I finally got online I was disapointed to find that MOHAA was unplayable. The network is a T1 but the school limits bandwidth for Peer to Peer programs and I think they acsidentally are limiting my game also.
Either way I need to know how to find out the ports I use and I don't know how. I assumed 12203 but I want to make sure, and get any help from this forum of experienced players. I CAN connect, rarely, and when I do my ping is 999 most of the time. Sometimes connections time out, sometimes it just sits there trying to connect for eternity. Please help, I need to get back to sniping my clan. Wow I haven't seen this smiley in years. annoy: I make that face so often. Anyway, my email is Mecha_Sen@yahoo.com and the same on YIM. NecroSen on AIM, and senhatesyou@hotmail.com on MSN. Doomo Arigatoo. |
Depending on how big your univeristy is you can ask your IT tech department to release bandwidth restrictions on your specific port. Just tell them your computer science, webdesign or something else that would naturally require a higher bandwidth. It worked for me my freshman year. Otherwise... go with your own private cable modem, assuming that your campuse supplies you with CATV

I've already told them it's a game , and they don't mind. They understand that part of college is living and recreating adn that it's important. Anyway I told them I thought I used port 12203 and they said they opened it for me... or something like that, but I don't even know if port 12203 is the right port. mwah:

that's the default port for MOH, could work

ASk them to open port ranges from 12203 - 12310 That should solve any issues. Also, on a side note... Alot of campus' are having major network issues for two reasons... one the obvious virus outbreaks, and 2....
Asus released a new motherboard that has Artificial Intellegence which can pintpoint the exact location or a problem in a network line. It's been documented that on some older networks that have minor problems (my campus in specific) the new Asus AI motherboards are pinging the hell out of the system bringing the network to a screeching halt. It took our IT departement like 5 days to track down 6 people with that MB and cut off their internet connection into a solution could be developed. |
They initially blamed it on the virus... eek: but I can DL with Flashget at 450KBs and then try and connect to a server or TeamSpeak server and get these problems. That doesn't make sense, to me at least. Thanks for the help so far. They already tried opening 12203. I'll tell him your idea. Thanks soo much.
