Computer problem..
Hm, hey guys I have this odd problem with my computer now..you see a few days ago the motherboard got roasted during a thunderstorm. So, I took it to the store to have a new one installed.. now most of my games runs slugglish as Hell..especially Call Of Duty, before I ran that game on Max settings with hardly any slowdowns at all. Now it lags ALOT and is pretty much unplayable with those settings.. cuss:
My rig is not that bad either, 2.5ghz CPU, GF4 Ti and a nice gig of ram. Anyone know how the Hell I can get my games to run smoothly again? Thanks oOo: |

Help. Did they format it ? If not there is your problem without a doubt. Format it new mobo = format. |
Need more info.
What mobo? What is the brand of your cpu and the front side bus? have you updated all your drivers again? Lots of variables. |
You need to reformat, man. Even if it's the same model of the mobo, some settings are different that the mobo can't regonize. Hence, your AGP clock settings are probably out of whack, along with other settings. Grab an OS disk, and reformat.

Intel P4,
Hm..I noticed something odd in device manager the SM Bus Controller has no drivers installed..could that be the cause of the problem? |
might try grabbing the chipset drivers and install ... see if that helps.
|
Using a chipset web upgrade..hopefully it'll work. If not I'll have to reformat...I've never done a reformat before lol, any tips on what NOT to do?
|
Dont listen to joe. Thats his advice for all hardware problems.
Reformat!!!!!!! LOL - that should be your absolute last thing you try. Yes it almost always works, but you can usually fix a bad head gasket by replacing the whole engine too. Look through your settings. Make sure the mobo is recogizing all your hardware properly, video card in particular. |
find a cd key online before you reinstall
|
I'm just going to bite the bullet and go for a reformat...
