Looking for Map overlays
Hello Gentlemen ,
Im searching for overhead pictures of maps. My intention is to offer my team pictures of maps that will show the scale of the map for training purposes. The idea is to be able to locate buildings roads and other features by a referance name. MC has a wonderful example of this for MOHAA. But im looking for spearhead maps. The problem Im running in to is the fog. I can pull out in spec and get only a small piece of the map before the fog becomes to thick to see the features. Any assistance in this matter would be greatly appriciated. I would also be interested in the same style of pictures for the more comman custom maps ie: StLo , Hitlers Farm , V2v2 , Thunder , and AC battlefield. Once again thank you for any help you may be able to offer. |
Ummm
I know there are Mohaa ones, but havent seen ones for Spearhead. That needs looking in to.
|
simple.. download no fog to use for your map guides
|
Fragged ,
What is " No Fog " ? Im not familliar with that. And where would I find it? |
No fog is a cheat, like no recoil. There are plenty of sites that promote cheating so I guess you could do a Google search for one.
|
Ahhhh , I see.
So this is a cheat mod , that will remove the fog. Im with you now , I'll try it thanks guys. |
put on the cheat, go to spect, and hold the jump key, till your high enough for a good picture
|
The Fog mod worked to a certain extent , however it would appear that at a certain distance the map turns blank. For instance supposeing I wanted to cut the map into 1/4s , I could do this better with the fog mod. Yet if I only wanted 2 halves I could not. Even with the fog mod, which does alow for a clearer view but does not allow for greater distance.
Surely there are " blueprint " style Spearhead maps out there. Perhaps Im going about this the wrong way. Is there a way to open the map file itself and get what Im looking for? I have done some minnor modding , but I have yet to tackle the massiveness of maps. So I have the abillity to open and expore pk3 files. But I have no idea what to look for in a map file. |
You don't have the .map files, so it's rather a moot point.
|
Cut the map up into 4 or 8 parts then stich the parts back together with your graphics program.
|
I have not tryed stitching them togather. Thats a good idea. I was kinda hoping someone would say " Oh sure I did that last week , here you go Zen." But I dont supose I would be so fortunate. Oh well. lol
Thanks for the tips gentlemen! |
First, using the cheat in just stupid.
Secondly, it's easy to get a pic. Do this.... - keep in mind that at a certain height, you will leave the sky box and be reset into the map. You will have to work at it to get the max height, and in some maps you won't get a perfect overhead. You can, however, take a long-high-angle shot, if that will work for you. - open the pk3 with the map files in it..find the .scr file for that map - open the .scr file in notepad or whatever - find the line that has the farplane distance noted, it various by map. I think the omaha one is like 3000 or 3300 or something like that. It will be in the top section of the .scr after "main" and possibly after 'prespawn'. - edit that number, say if it is 3000, make it 33,000, then resave the .scr file and repack. - after you get your pics, go back and reset the farplane. A little work but it is worth it. Ok, pain in the ass, but it will work that way if you choose to try it. |
