RedHat problems

i finally got Linux Redhat 9.0 running on my laptop, it works perfectly fine except for internet connections. Im in a Cisco Networking class, so i know a very decent amount of stuff to configure internet connections, etc. Linux doesnt want to read my ethernet cards, all 3 of them. I have a generic ethernet NIC on the back of my laptop, that doesnt want to be read. i also have a 3Com Megahertz Cardbus and that doesnt want to be read, because Linux doesnt have the right drivers... and my Linksys Wireless WCP11 isnt supported either....i need to find the drivers or something for Linux....i downloaded the WCP11 driver for "Other" operating systems but Linux wont open anything in the folder....any suggestions PLEASEEEEE....this is driving me nuts...

and for anyone who says "how did you get the driver on your laptop without internet?" i downloaded it on my comp and burnt it to a cd....

Do a

cat /etc/modules.conf && dmesg |grep eth

and post the result.

And Bullitt Tooth, I hope you're not talking about the "leet hax0r" who needed to ask rudedog kingergarden questions like "how to backup my forum database in ssh". stupid:

I have no problem with any particular person, I just don't think it's funny/cool/nice to denote a person as a 1337 whatever just because everybody else says so. It's not even healthy for the person himself. I've seen myself, in real life, qualifying individuals having problems landing on a half-decent technical position just because everybody else *thinks* it's oh so easy to be an I.T professional and overwhelmed the industry, again real life experience:

"Qualifying experience?"

"Yes, I use linux extensively, I installed RH myself too."

"And?"

"And it was.. a successful install."

"What about these that you put on your resume? Freebsd, Netbsd, Solaris, Debian, SuSe, Turbo Linux, Mandrake... and what about these, sendmail, qmail, exsim, squid, BIND, samba, mysql, apache, proftpd, Plesk, Ensim, webmin, python, perl, php, sh... and these snort, netcat, tcpdump, Sam Spade, nmap, SPIKE, nemesis... (bout 20 more I don't remember and a few never used/heard of)"

"Well I installed and used them all too."

"??? Oh.. kay. You've just got out of high school, you must've been a hell of a BIOLOGY student to ultilize all those..."

um, no kid hake: just go back to school, or start from ground up and earn some frickin' experience. And may I also suggest you to burn/eat/stuff your current resume cause you don't really know half of the terms you put on'em?

phewww... I should've warned you about getting me started on the crappy industry that I'm in.

i never said it was easy to be an IT teacher...i know how hard it is, im in a cisco networking class thats beyond belief hard, not to mention computers themselves...im trying to expand my knowledge of other operating systems, and i love redhat. im on redhat right now and its great. the problem was a faulty wire, im guessing...because i changed the wire and activated the NIC, all is well now. the built in IRC client is being a bitch and gaim wont connect right....
