Nazis nuke New York?
Anybody watch the History Channel program about German secret aircraft?
I thought it was complete BS, they said that if the Germans could hold the line until 1946 then the flying wing bomber could drop a nuke on NY and Germany could win the war. I think this is a somewhat simplistic view of the war. Let's assume that the Germans delay the war for exactly one year, that means by Spring of 1946 the Soviets are at the Oder River and the Western Allies have just crossed the Rhine. Now word gets to allied lines that the Nazi bastards just nuked New York City, are the allies going to pack up and go home? No! They are going to finish their push into Germany and probably kill most of the population as revenge. Remember that with Hiroshima and Nagasaki it was the US that had Japan by the throat. If Germany nuked an allied city when the allies had Germany by the throat, all it would do is piss us off and most likely lead to a lot of German civillians getting killed. |
and my dumbass thought this thread was breaking news..

I think the point the history channel was trying to make is that if they had the nukes they would be using them on allied troops as well as the cities. They were also making a point on how if the war would have lasted into 1946 how the luftwaffe would have retaken control of the skies with their advanced jet designs.

they couldn't have had more than 1 nuke by '46, especially after the SAS fucked up their D2O plant
and their jets would be of limited usefulness due to lack of skilled pilots (most were attritioned off either against the USSR or against the Allied bomber raids), the new jets would prove to be only effective against the unmanuverable B-17s and 24s, but our Thunderbolts, Lightnings, and IL-2s would still pound German frontlines into the mud, and Shermans and T-34s would roll right over them, just as they did IRL. |
kinda relates also about that u-boat that was on the east coast, or was spose to be. something like that, cant remember.

he watched the sum of all fears one to many times....

Since the Soviets were knocking on Germany's front door, don't you think Hitler would have ordered the nuke to be droped on soviet lands?

Germany needed another 2 years to develope a nuclear weapon. So 1946 was a bit premature. beer:

not to mention that the jet would bearly have enough fule to make it there letalone back again, and as previously stated it would only piss off the allies even more. and this morning the history channel had a special that talked about how the germans had actually landed two 4 man terrorist units with enough explosives to cause a lot of damage but the leader of the terrorist team was a german american and he turned them all in before anything happened!

Well, Neo-nazis.
