Jeeze, first Pettitte now Clemens.

They going after Jeter next or what?

Fireal 01-12-2004 01:34 PM

I feel bad for Pettite, and Clemens. After all these years playing for a good team, now playing for the Astros. There's a mistake he'll regret

SW-14 01-12-2004 02:29 PM

As a Houstonian, I can only say one thing.

YES!

i would by no means call houston a bad team, they are in it ever yr...

He decided to join after Petty did, obviously because the people in Texas DO care about him and stuff. But oh boy, sorry Yankee fans, they're going to bash Roger even more now lol.

Leave it to Yankees fans to prove the criticisms right.
You guys bashed Roger Clemens when he was a Red Sock. Then bashed him again when he was a Blue Jay.

Then adored him and proclaimed he is super genuine, honest, classy, and a team player while he was a Yankee.

Now you guys bash him again for un-retiring and playing for a different league that holds no bearing on whether the Yankees make it to the World Series.

Clemens is a world series ring lusting whore like the rest of them nothing new.

Who's bashing Clemens? I wish him well in his new adventure....along with Petitte and Wells. As for the rest of the Yanks, they'll be in the hunt next October but remember one thing, you can't win every year.

Bazooka_Joe 01-13-2004 03:00 AM

Holy crap, now that's a surpise.

Fireal 01-13-2004 10:37 AM

Houston is a bad team. Pettite is used to playing in the playoffs everyyear.
He'll be back. Clemens, that is just stupid. He will play, quite possibly the worst season of his career. He ended his career with a boom this season, a strikeout.
Oh, and why is everyone all
"SORRY YANKEE FFAN!"
Most of us knew he wouldnt be on the team next year, because of retirement. He is going to play on a team, that i dont believe is on their schedule this year. No big loss, might as well be playing in his hometown, than no team.

he is from texas, he went to the university of texas...he wants to end it there, he is "hook 'em horns" for life, its in his blood. i have no quamms with him doing this, and i disagree, houston is not a bad team. if you followed the sport at all for the past 5 yrs you would know that houston is in the central div hunt every yr....

There's no way you can say Houston is a bad baseball team. Last year we were in the playoff hunt and leading the NL Central for most of the year, only to blow it in the last few games to give the Cubs the division. Clemens and Pettite should be just what we need to propel us to the playoffs, and hopefully, the World Series. We now have the best pitching staff in the Major Leagues with Clemens, Pettite (who grew up in Houston), Roy Oswalt, and Wade Miller. And everyone knows pitching wins championships. cool:

Are you just a disgruntled Yankees fan?

Sicilian_Summers 01-13-2004 04:24 PM

The NL Central isn't exactly known as the strongest division in baseball, and you need decent bats at the least to win championships as well. Take the Dodgers for example - great pitching team, terrible batting team.

Anyways, I heard a thing or two about New York papers bashing Clemens, but whether or not this is true is debatable seeing as how I live outside of Boston. biggrin:

As for Clemens, I hope he enters the hall as an ASTRO, even a Blue Jay, just NOT a Yankee. In terms of him entering the hall as a member of the Red Sox, I don't think that's happening, too much of a grudge against Dan Duquette..

Houston scored the 9th most runs in the league dont forget they have bagwell, hidalgo, and berkman..plus they play in that amusement park Minute Maid Park...Rey Ordonez could challenge for the HR title playing there
