American TV
What is with american TV? After this whole Janet Jackson thing people are complaining to the network & everyone is apologising. Why? Why is such a big mess caused over a mere nipple slip but yet in shows such as third watch or ER their is blood, guts, Gun battles, people getting shot. Even some scenes on ER have grossed me out with all the blood squirting & surgury scenes. But god forbid you see a nipple or even swear on tv or you will have a huge mess of mad people on your hands. I will admit American TV has gotten a bit better in the last 10 years but it is still alot more censored than the BBC or any canadian channel.

Its because anyone who has ever watched the halftime show has never seen a nipple before.
|
Its just the way it is. I hate people who complain about shit like that..."Oh my god, a nipple my life is over with, I must go complain." But, thats just soccer mom America for you.
|
Yeah I agree, but as said, its because it wasn't expected. You watch ER, you expect blood and shit. You watch sopranos, you expect violence and swearing. You watch football, you expect football and a bunch of shitty singers dancing around grabbing their crotches, but no boobs.
I agree that it itsn't a big deal. If you were to have to choose what to show your kid, would you rather have him see a breast, or someone getting shot in the head or listening to some profanity. Personally I don't see a real problem with it, I think the more pressing issue for families is violence and swearing. But no one says anything about that. But yeah, Canadian censoring is pretty cool. After 10pm "fuck" is allowed on cable channels. I believe "shit" is allowed at any time. And I was watching CBC news and they showed janets breasts in slow motion without blurring the screen or anything. Kind of ironic that everyones getting pissed off about it and then the CBC shows it intentionally. |
CBC & CTV are pretty much entirly uncensored. Hell they even had the osbournes uncut. But even on the news nothing is censored.

Personally I do not liek it becuase it is trashy. If Im watching TV I want to watch something with a half-decent story, and not some cheap crap. In my opnion language, and nudity add nothing to a show, action does. Nudity in a half time show is stupid, the half time show was stupid, MTV has become stupid. Oh well who cares TV will just get even more like a crap hole, with nothing good to watch. Tv shows are stupid, the only "prime_time" TV I watch is Third Watch and Monk.

Half-time show was to make money from younger views (obviously, with nelly and justin timberlake, and kidrock) Basicly what mindless sheep kids think are cool and badass.... the Areosmith perforamce wasn't bad. |
