Long story short

Radeon x800xt is smaller, consumes less power, and for the most part performs as well or better than the 6800ultra depending on the game and aniso\fsaa settings.

Yeah these were leaked last night, and confrmed the rumors that the card will perform as good if not better then Nvidia's ultra card. I have my money saved up for it, that's for sure.

Just remember, 6800U=$650.00 US x800XT=$499.99 US

And as we all know, NEVER buy the original ATI stuff.
Try and get a Sapphire instead. happy:

No, but the price range will be around the same

geRV 05-05-2004 10:04 AM

I prefer the original ati stuff, when the 9700 was released in the uk sapphire ballsed up and there was some kind of bios conflict with a number of mainbords not working with the card.

According to hardocp the x800pro should be available today to buy as well. ed:

Well i said i would hold judgment until i had seen the new ATI contender. All i can say is that if i were upgrading it would be the X800 XT. The 6850 U that was just anounced (yes a 6850 already) seems like a "holy shit look what they accomplished, hurry cover our ass a bit" card. Offering less hastle to install, IE not needing 2 power connectors, and a smaller design ATI won from the get go. I dont much care if the card is a 2 slot design, but i do care about needing to upgrade a power supply as well as purchase the card.

Highly impressive offering from ATI.

Yup the 6850's definately the card they slapped together after the panic stations button was hit, apparrently just an overclock on the core by 50mhz or so.. id assume the memorys been bumped to some degree as well.

Price dropping happens now and again, usually the card will just be phased out. I know the 9800pro is cheaper and that can usually be clocked to xt speeds.

Miscguy 05-05-2004 10:54 AM

Still about 450 bucks. They wont have a huge price drop since the X800 penetration will likly be slow at its intro cost, and the fact that the XT version wont be out till later in the month. I wouldnt expect it to go below 375 at best. Its still a hot card, that now those looking just below top of the line will look at.

TonyMontana 05-05-2004 12:35 PM

Congrats ATI and beating Nvidia again! I would have bought whatever was better for the price, but I'm much happeir that ATI won since their drivers pwn Nvidia's crap. Quite ironic looking back 2 years ago.

Now all I need is $450...
