What do our boys need?
 

What do you think our chaps (allies covering all countries that we care to mention) need? This is by no means a why are we there &tc thread & should we be there, this thread is entirely dedicated to what military equiptment is needed in Iraq to get the job done.

Personally I think the Hummers are far too lightly armoued for the job & the Stryker or something a little tougher needs to take their place. When they get shot at by RPGs et al Hummers- cannon fodder.

What else do you think they need?

Don't think you can do that in these Islamic countries, one of the primary reasons that I don't wana go eek:

Should be distributed to EVERY soldier.

In Iraq, I always thought you don't need better weapons or equipment, you just need to stay out of trouble and stay unseen. There shouldn't be a soldier on every street corner like there is in Iraq. All the troops should just sit in a heavily guarded massive base or bases. They should use lots of spies and to find where the "insurgents" are or what they are doing. And once they know, they should send out the troop destroy them, and the go back into hiding. That's all.

But then they would be attacked by mortars and what not.

1)Better information and intelligence.

2)A way to relate to the people of Iraq so they don't want to blow them up. (Although you can't please everyone)

3)Iraq needs an infastructure. If people have jobs and money and things to do, then they won't be angry and want to blow shit up. So whoever can do this in the least amount of time would work...but this will probably take years.

I was mainly talking about Iraq here, but I think these things apply to all countries: Bosnia, Afghanistan, Various African Republics, other Middle East countries etc.

We need to take all their children and brainwash them with Western ideas, then by the time we send em back all the parents are old and the new brainwashed pro Western people will be in charge. biggrin:

shorter tour of duty, better hygiene, more iraqi troops, another president, better intelligence, allied support and better/stronger vehicles.
