dday 60
I know theres a big ceremony in france, but is there going to be anything here in the states?
|
If there isn't, there should be. I'm hoping they have a nice ceremony here in Ottawa.
I might have to wander down to the War Memorial and pay my damn respects to those guys who saved the world. |
This link will lead you to the national d-day memorial in New Orleans. Apparently the Museum is quite large. This is also the same area that all the higgins Boats weere made for the beach landings.

If im not mistaken there will be a dedication to a WW2 memorial. It will be broadcast "live" on the history channel.

i know someone that might be going to NO at the Nation D-Day Museum. All the vets of Easy Comany are supposed to be there
|
I'm going to remembers the vets by going out and buying a gallon of gasoline and a snickers bar.

if it weren't for them, you'd be going out for sauerkraut and weinerschnitzel. Hrm...that doesn't sound so bad, actually...heh heh. |

There's probably going to be a ceremony in City Park like last year...A bunch of WWII vets were there marching along with a lot of cops and firefighters from our city, with Scottish Bagpipes playing in the background. I was in Air Cadets so I got to march in the back with my group.
Hopefully there's going to be something a little better this year. There's also a Canadian WWII Museum downtown, I haven't been to it yet, but I probably should. I like stuff like that, In Russia I visited a WWII Museum in Moscow. Really interesting; I took plenty of pictures of the weapons and stuff too. I also heard on the radio that around 1000 WWII vets are dying monthly...really sad. |
there is going to be a big reenactment in reading, PA jun 4-6
i wish i could go... |
