might start a band...

anyone in one? me and a couple friends might start a band, but we havent really written any stuff, kinda working on a song but we mainly just do song that have already been written, like ac/dc or metallica and stuff. if anyone is/has been in a band, did you start out doing other peoples work? should we write our own stuff, i know we will eventually, but did you guys start out doing covers?

Start by doing a few covers then try to write your own stuff its pretty hard to write good songs

Well, for starters you should see how you guys are together. Have a few jam sessions and have fun doing it. If you guys are having fun together, perhaps start with songs you know, then try making one of your own. Having a computer is key, makes recording your own tracks and riffs a breeze. Good luck.

Good luck. The great thing about covers is that whoever you're preforming for probably know the song.
